Why hold the TakeABreak Awards?

At TakeABreak we see so many great places to holiday, we decided to award the best of the best. We know that there are so many different holiday options to choose from and we hope that this will help you in selecting holiday accommodation and destinations that will really work for you. We've been running these awards since 2007.

The best part of these awards is that they are nominated by guests who have actually stayed.

• initiated by guests who have actually stayed at each property.
• evaluated on services provided to guests, guest comments, ratings and reviews

This means the awards go to the properties in each category where guests have the best experiences and get the best service. 

Award entries

All properties listed on Occupancy.com group websites, including www.takeabreak.com.au and www.rentahome.com.au are automatically entered into the awards. Operators with a guest review rating of 80% or higher (4/5 or 8/10) are shortlisted. Property Managers are then asked to to tell us why their property should be the winner in the specific category(s) of their choice via an editorial submission.

A limit of 5 finalists per category are selected based on the above criteria. Where no properties meet the criteria, we do not present an award for that category.

State and National Winners for each category are selected by the TakeABreak judging team based on viewing of actual TakeABreak listing, guest comments and editorial submission.

People's Choice Award

In addition to the below categories, there will be a People's Choice category, voted on by the travelling public clicking the 'like' button on their favourite property.
