Elm Cottage is also just one hour drive from the Mount Selwyn snowfields offering 13 lifts, tobogganing and cross country skiing. Mount Selwyn is regarded as the perfect ski resort to "learn to ski" with runs to suit first timers, intermediates and the more advanced skier.

Elm Cottage is the only 4 star accommodation within the Tumut Shire, offering total privacy for a romantic weekend away or to relax and just unwind. No telephones, but mobile reception is available so you can make up your own mind if you want to take the call. We offer a “cook your own breakfast” so guests can choose when they want to eat. An outdoor setting plus gas BBQ is provided on your private balcony either to cook breakfast or a freshly caught trout from the river for dinner.

Others enjoy the many attractions and activities within the Shire, visiting Kosciusko National Park, Yarrangobilly Caves and Buddong Falls, the Tumut 3 Power Station at Talbingo, Adelong Falls famous for its goldmining history, Batlow to see the apple and stonefruit orchards and Tumbarumba for the wineries. For the more energetic rafting and canoeing along the Tumut and Goobarragandra River, water skiing, windsurfing at Blowering Dam, hang gliding, mountain bike riding and skiing at Mt. Selwyn in winter. Fishing, bushwalking and bird watching are also very popular activities in the region.

Accommodation

River Gum cottage accommodates seven while Blue Gum cottage accommodates four. Both cottages have 180º views of the river, are fully self-contained and beautifully decorated.  A “cook your own” breakfast is supplied for the first morning stay. We offer our guests the facility of doing their shopping through our website and have it packed in the cottage for their arrival, taking away any pre-trip hassles.  Picnic lunches are also provided on request.
