TakeABreak.com.au recommends that operators join the relevant state/region or local professional organisation that may apply to their particular business. A list of recommended organisations appear below:

National
HRIA - Holiday Rentals Industry Association (website under construction)

BBFA - Bed & Breakfast and Farmstay Australia Inc. previously known as the Australian Bed and Breakfast Council (ABBC)
BBFA provides a national representative voice for the Australian bed & breakfast industry. Membership is comprised of the State and Territory B&B associations with overall responsibility for more than 1000 B&Bs.

National Tourism Alliance
The National Tourism Alliance (NTA) was formed to establish unity within the Australian Tourism and Hospitality Industry, providing a single voice to Federal Government on issues of common interest.

AAA Tourism - Automobile Association of Australia (includes NRMA, RACV, RAA, RAC)
AAA Tourism is the national tourism body of Australia's auto clubs. They manage the national STARS rating scheme.

HMAA - Hotel Motel and Accommodation Association
HMAA is recognised as the leading authority for Excellence in Accommodation Industry.

Bed & Breakfast and Farmstay Association of NSW & ACT Australia
The Bed & Breakfast and Farmstay NSW & ACT (BBFNSW) Association is a non-profit organisation that represents the Bed & Breakfast and Farmstay industry to the accommodation seeker as well as the wider tourism industry in NSW & ACT Australia.

NSW
NSW Tourism Industry Council
The Tourism Industry Council of NSW (TICNSW) is the only independent voice of the tourism industry of NSW. It represents more than 7,000 tourism businesses with no fewer than 20,000 employees across all sectors of the industry – one of the most important of all industries in the state.

Bed & Breakfast and Farmstay Association of NSW & ACT Australia
The Bed & Breakfast and Farmstay NSW & ACT (BBFNSW) Association is a non-profit organisation that represents the Bed & Breakfast and Farmstay industry to the accommodation seeker as well as the wider tourism industry in NSW & ACT Australia.

NT
Northern Territory Bed and Breakfast Council
The Northern Territory Bed & Breakfast Council was established in 1999 by bed and breakfast proprietors in the Northern Territory. In line with other state bed and breakfast organisations, their name has changed to Bed & Breakfast and Farmstay Northern Territory Incorporated (BBFNT).

Tourism Northern Territory
Tourism NT is charged with the promotion and development of tourism in the Northern Territory. This site provides information and assistance for the Northern Territory tourism industry and media partners.

QLD
Queensland Tourism Industry Council
Queensland Tourism Industry Council (QTIC) is the State peak body for tourism. We are a not for profit membership organisation representing members' interests - both large and small.

B&B Farmstay Association of Far North Qld
Bed and Breakfast and Farmstay Association of Far North Queensland hosts offer a wide choice of styles of accommodation or lodgings, from traditional bed & breakfasts, farmstays, ruralstays, homestays, retreats, self contained cottages, spas and Outback Stations.

SA
Bed and Breakfast and Farmstay South Australia
Founded in 1986 the South Australian Bed & Breakfast Association amalgamated with South Australian Farm & Country Holidays in July 2004 to form the "Bed & Breakfast and Farmstay South Australia".

South Australian Tourism Commission
The South Australian Tourism Commission (SATC) is committed to growing the State’s tourism industry. Tourism is big business in South Australia, creating work for South Australians and offering strong prospects for long-term growth. The industry contributes to the State’s economic activity, generating jobs and export dollars by attracting interstate and international tourists. It also enhances the State’s cultural attributes and offers sustainable development for the environment.

VIC
Accommodation Getaways Victoria
Accommodation Getaways Victoria Inc is the peak industry association representing
Victoria's finest B&Bs, farmstays, country cottages, guesthouses, retreats, boutique
hotels and self-contained apartments.

Victorian Tourism Industry Council
VTIC was formed in July 2001 as the' umbrella' organisation for the tourism industry in Victoria following the lapse of the former Tourism Council of Australia.

WA
Western Australia Bed and Breakfast Association
Formed in 1997, Bed & Breakfast and Farmstay Western Australia Inc continues as the peak body representing Bed & Breakfast and Farmstay accommodation in Western Australia. Previously known as the Western Australian Bed & Breakfast Association Inc (WABBA). BBFWA is an accredited association and member of Australian Bed & Breakfast and Farmstay.

Western Australia Tourism Council
Tourism Council Western Australia (TCWA) is the peak body for the tourism industry in Western Australia. It is a not for profit organisation representing members' interests - from the largest investor to the smallest operator. Tourism Council WA is an independent organisation governed by members from within Western Australia. As a result, Tourism Council truly reflects the views of the industry at all levels across the state.
