Holiday house

After a day on the beach or enjoying Coffs Coast it's great to return to air conditioned Halcyon Retreat where we offer well appointed self contained accommodation in shady tropical gardens on woodland acres close to the rainforest, beach and village of Woolgoolga. The Retreat features resident natural wildlife including wallabies and over 50 species of birds. With rainforest walks and the Solitary Islands Marine Park at our doorstep, Halcyon Retreat is the perfect escape for those who seek seclusion and nature but all the comforts of home. Nearby Woolgoolga Beach offers excellent swimming, surfing and access to the Marine Park for fishing, canoeing / kayaking, scuba diving, snorkelling or whale watching. The beachside township of Woolgoolga also offers wide range of cafes, restaurants and shops with a golf course and dive shop also nearby. Halcyon Retreat provides luxury king and queen bedrooms with all linen provided, modern bathroom, fully equipped kitchen, comfortable lounge and dining room overlooking the gardens, a private veranda with BBQ, table and chairs, picnic facilities in the grounds, undercover parking, a hard standing for boats and trailers, washing, drying and lock-up storage for sports equipment.Visa, MasterCard and Bankcard welcome. Minimum stay is 2 nights and sorry we are unable to accommodate children under 10 years or pets.

Coffs Harbour is serviced several times a day by rail, road and airlines with connections to international destinations. Transfers to transport terminals are available by arrangement.

Private 2 bedroom accommodation with own tropical gardens, quiet, natural surrounds on 6.5 acres, verandah with outdoor eating table & chairs, deck chairs or swing in a hammock for a quiet read or snooze in the afternoon and a drink at "happy hour". Own BBQ facilities with furniture in the garden. Wander the 6.5 acres of part native woodlands, part pastures for a horse. Enjoy bird watching on-site as we have over 30 species of birds here plus the Sherwood Nature Reserve just a 15 minute early morning/evening walk from the property. Photograph native birds, wallabies, possums, tree frogs, geckos and other native flora and fauna right here at HALCYON RETREAT.

Woolgoolga surf beach, a very safe and patrolled beach, is just 4 minutes drive from HALCYON RETREAT and other beautiful beaches abound close by. Arrawarra Beach just 8 minutes away, a favourite for long boards.

Over 30 species of birds have been recorded at HALCYON RETREAT during a 12month period and the odd new one comes along too. Bird watches who visit the area are given a "Bird Routes of Coffs Coast" brochure for all the best locations in the nearby area where you will find some unique species such as the ground parrot. Sherwood Nature Reserve, just a 15 minute early morning/evening walk from here is excellent for bird watching both along the way and at the Reserve.

We provide National Park brochures to all nearby National Parks and there are plenty for you to explore.

Ocean kayaking and Woolgoolga Lake are just 4 minutes drive from HALCON RETREAT. Hire of kayaks is available at our local Surf Shop in Woolgoolga.

The Solitary Islands Marine Reserve is accessable just 4 minutes drive to Woolgoolga and the beach launching facilities there or an alternative is 10 minutes drive to Arrawarra Beach launching facility which is more popular and easier for launching. Beach fishing is very popular and there are many good beaches to choose from within close proximiity to HALCYON RETREAT. For river fishing Red Rock is only 15 minutes and the Clarence River. Bellinger and Kalang Rivers are a pleasant 45 minutes drive away. Ice and bait is available locally and boat parking and washing is available onsite.

Home made chocolates are provided as a welcome treat for a Romantic Stay if advised as such at time of booking. Accommodation is on a very private 6.5 acre property in natural bushland with no other guests staying at the same time.

The Solitary Islands Marine Park provides 5 islands with very unique habitats on each island. The mixing or tropical and southern species of corals, plants and fish is abundant and your diving experience is well rewarded. We have been regularly diving this locality for over thirty years and still enjoy every dive!! Charter Boats operate from Mullaway, just 10 minutes away to experience the northern islands or Coffs Harbour, 20 minutes away, for the southern islands or of course bring your own boat and launch at Arrawarra of Coffs Harbour. Washing and drying of scuba gear available onsite as is secure storage.

Woolgoolga Whale Watch Headland is just 4 minutes away and Humpback Whales can be seen close to shore at this location from May to August and again September to November on their migratory path. Those who come with boats and enjoy the Solitary Island Marine Park for scuba diving or fishing have regular close encounters with these gentle giants of the ocean. Dolphins are more often seen from this headland and in the bays along the nearby coastline and of course play with the boats at sea. Whale/Dolphin Watching Charter Boats operate from Coffs Harbour marina just 20 minutes away.
