Cottage

The cottage has 2 double rooms and 1 children's bunk room that sleeps 4. A colourful 'kids only' playroom that will keep them entertained for hours adjoins the children's room upstairs. All the necessary kitchen utensils for 8 guests as well as linen and tea & coffee making facilities are supplied. Several living areas and a wood fire make the cottage ideal for large groups with a separate bathroom and toilet. A plasma television wii console board & games as well as CD player/i-pod & USB music system is great entertainment for those little as well as big kids. A generous fenced in area with sandpit, climbing frame and basketball net as well as a large verandah and BBQ facilities are at the rear of the cottage.

Prices to the tariffs are subject to change for special events and need to be confirmed with the operator directly.

We are proud to say that Hollybush Cottage has been judged a finalist in the 'Excellence in Accommodation Category'of the Macedon Ranges Business Excellence Awards 2007.

Locality

Woodend and the Macedon Ranges area offers days of interest and pleasure for every age. After enjoying Woodend Village, take a drive through the surrounding scenic countryside. Explore the mystery of Hanging Rock , visit a few of the more than 40 boutique cool-climate wineries, the local berry farm and for the energetic, try the bushwalks on nearby Mount Macedon or golf in several of the wonderful courses. The location of the cottage is ideal for walking or biking, two Trailglide bikes are available for hire one 18 inch women's and a 20 inch mans bike for $15 per bike per day.

Property

As the chook shed sits close to the cottage we encourage guests to help themselves to eggs when the chooks are laying. We also encourage guests to help themselves to the herbs and vegetables when available in the garden beds that sit behind the cottage.

The Cottage and House are fenced off within approx 1 acre to contain all but the most determined of children or pets. Guests dogs can use the large dog pen behind the cottage or are welcome to roam around the entire fenced in area. Guests are also welcome to explore the entire property even when the other house is occupied.

The property is only a 5 minute drive to the Woodend Railway Station along a dirt road. I am happy to pick up guests and drop them off at the Railway Station or bringing a bike would be helpful in order to get around.

Family Friendly

Portacot available, Plastic crockery and cutlery available for children, Games/videos for children under 5 available, Games/videos for children between 5 and 12 available, Games/videos for children over 12 available, Fenced/safe outdoor play area, Children's playground equipment, Babysitting services can be arranged.

The cottage has a lovely playroom for children and a fenced in back area with climbing equipment, sand Pit and basketball net.

Farmland Experiences

Farm animals live on the property, Chickens, Horses, Dogs, Other farm animals, Guests able to interact with the farm animals.

Chester the cat also lives at Hollybush. Gusts are encouraged to collect the eggs, when the chooks are laying. There are no limitations to guests access to the animals, we just ask people to take all the necessary precautions.

Golf

Golf course located nearby.

The Macedon Ranges offer several wonderful golf courses. The Trentham golf course close by offers guests at Hollybush Cottage a significant reduction in green fees, 9 holes of golf for $10 or 18 holes for $12.

Horse riding

Horse riding available nearby, Guests are welcome to bring their own horses.

Horse owners are welcome to bring their horse and put it on adjistment next door for $10 a night while staying in hollybush Cottage, just bring your own hard feed.

The next door neighbour Jennifer is an EFA judge and riding instructor and is happy to give lessons for $45 an hour in her dressage arena. Beginners are welcome with their own horse however 7 years is a minimum age for children.

If having lessons is not your thing then riding through the rain forrest up on Mount Macedon might be an attractive alternative.

Pet friendly

Cats are permitted, Small dogs (less than 11 kg) are permitted, Medium dogs (11 kg to less than 34 kg) are permitted, Large dogs (34 kg or heavier) are permitted, Pets are permitted inside, Secure, fully fenced running area, Food and water bowls provided, Other domesticated animals reside at the property.

The cottage is securely fenced and there is a large fenced in dog run and kennel positioned behind the cottage for larger dogs. Dogs are welcome inside the cottage however I do hope guests leave the cottage in the same condition that they found it.

Wine Appreciation

Winery tour available as part of accommodation package, Winery tours available nearby.

Winery Tours can be arranged with the Victorian Winery Tours. The tour is a full day of visiting the wineries of the Macedon Ranges with lunch in one of the wineries. The tour guide picks you up and drops you off at Hollybush Cottage at a cost of $125 per person. You are asked to give me your preferences of days when booking and I will attempt to make satisfactory arrangements. The winery tour is paid for when paying the accommodation costs of Hollybush Cottage.
