Nestled in the picturesque MacDonald Valley near Wisemans Ferry, the River House is the ideal spot for a quiet winter getaway or a recreational summer holiday. With private ramp access to the MacDonald River, water-skiers will find this spot the perfect place to launch from. At the end of the day, retire to the deck for a cold beer and listen to the kookaburras. Better yet, try your luck at fishing; there’s a few flathead in the river waiting to be your dinner.
Nearby you’ll find great walking trails such at the Old Northern Road Convict Trail. Venture 17km towards St Albans and you’ll find great dining such as the Fickle Wombat, Wellum Lake Restaurant, and the Settler’s Arms Pub. Adventurous types may travel further on and take a challenging one-hour dirt track drive to the Hunter Valley wine region.
