Cottage, Bed & Breakfast, Farm stays

We are located 11 kms west of Wirrabara adjacent to the Wirrabara Forest, and across the road from the historic Old Forest Nursery, which contains many large specimen trees, and was the place where plantation forestry in South Australia began.
We have available two self contained cottages: Apricot Cottage and Ruby Cottage. Both are North facing, have large verandahs, and have slow combustion wood fires for cosy winter evenings.
Apricot Cottage can accomodate up to 5 people and Ruby Cottage up to 6.
We are a 'family friendly' location, with plenty of space and a collection of farm animals, including poultry, geese, sheep, cattle, guinea pigs and two friendly kelpie dogs.
We can provide a porta-cot and high chair, and have toys, videos and DVD's.
Both cottages have a AAA 3.5 Green Star rating, as an indication of our environmental focus.

Locality

We are located in the Southern Flinders Ranges, only 240kms north of Adelaide, and in a quiet and scenic location.
There are plenty of walking trails in the Wirrabara Forest, the Heysen Trail passes by our property, and there are also plenty of cycling trails, including the Mawson Trail nearby. Bike hire is available from us.
We are also close to the Mount Remarkable National Park and the historic town of Melrose.
We are 11kms west of Wirrabara, which has a Hotel with good meals, a supermarket, take-away and service station which are all open 7 days.
The Wirrabara Producers Market is held on the 3rd Sunday of every month from 8.30am to 12.00noon.

Property

Taralee Orchard is a 'Demeter' certified Biodynamic stone fruit orchard. Biodynamics is a particular form of organic poduction. Our property is 115 acres, of which 15 acres is orchard. We grow apricots, peaches, plums, nectarines, quinces, persimmons, apples and pears.
We also have a poductive vegetable garden, poulry, catle, sheep and guinea pigs.
We have two cottages on our property, located where there are views over the orchard and the Wirrabara Forest, so that others can stay and enjoy this scenic area as well as stay on a family friendly orchard farm.
