Wilpena Pound Resort is situated in "the Heart of the Flinders Ranges" in Outback South Australia. The scenery is spectacular with mountains and gorges providing new breathtaking views at every turn. Ideal place for walkers, the National Park trails are well defined, easy to follow and have varying degrees of difficulty - the highlight being the climb to the summit of St. Mary's Peak. Wildlife abound, with kangaroo, euro, emu and an enormous variety of birdlift to be seen year round. The smallest of finches and the largest of Eagles all call the Flinders 'home', as do the mobbing corellas and galahs. The accommodation is adjacent to the swimming pool, bar and beer garden. The bar serves icy cold beer and the restraurant services great value meals - the ideal place to celebrate and relax.

20 - 30 minute Scenic Flights are available on demand as are longer flights to more remote areas, like William Creek, Andamooka opal fields and Arkaroola.

4WD drives complete the experience of the wonder of the Flinders Ranges, South Australia's premier natural experience.

Just spent the last 5 days, doing the best four wheel driving ever. The sites were just amazing and breath taking. So much history, it is the best family holiday, we will ever have. We miss it a great deal. nature at it's best.

Locality

The Heart of the Flinders Ranges in South Australia at the entrance to Wilpena Pound. Driving time from Adelaide is approximately 5 hours on a sealed road. There are plenty of walks, both challenging and gentle, 4wd drives, both guided and self drive and a great place to experience 'the outback'.

Property

The Resort has 60 rooms, all with a queensize bed and some with 2 singles or bunks. Each room has an ensuite bathroom, television, tea and coffee making facilities and refrigerator. 10 of the units have cooking facilities with a gas top stove, microwave oven and kitchen bench top.

There is a restaurant, bar, shop/service station visitor centre, ATM facilities and internet kiosk.
