Cottage

The house was built in 1900 by my Great Grandfather. We have restored and renovated it for your comfort and now are very excited to share it with you.
A small and cozy cottage, ideal for a romantic getaway or relax with the family.
Enjoy the colonial atmosphere in a historical home.
The cottage is in the main street, so you can watch the town go by whilst enjoying the true hospitality of the towns people.
There is a double brass bed in one bedroom, and a double four poster bed in the other bedroom.
There are books, videos, DVD's and games to enjoy during your stay. Relax in the shade of the breezy verandah, cook your meals in the detached kitchen and enjoy a bubble bath in the lovely claw foot bath at the end of the day.
Take a picnic down to the Dumaresq River and enjoy the tranquillity.
Spend a morning at the historical museum open by appointment and on Saturday mornings.
Play a round of golf, go fishing, enjoy the stargazing in the clear night skies, go for a drive - the town is within an hour or two of Inverell, Goondiwindi, Inglewood, Stanthorpe and Tenterfield.

Locality

Texas is a small town with a population of 900. The people are very friendly and helpful. The local area is full of history and quiet places to relax. Visit the site of "old Texas" where the town first started near the river before flooding forced the town to move up to the hill.
Visit the site of the Rabbit Freezing Works. Now a museum and a tribute to the days when tobacco and rabbit hunting were the main incomes for the area. The Historical Society Museum is a terrific reminder of how people lived in the area in very early days.

Property

The house is snuggled in amongst the main street, with a house behind it and beside it and a grocery store next to it. There is a public phone just across the road. The newsagency can deliver a newspaper if you would like us to arrange it. The coffee shop is 20 metres to get a great cuppacino and you can walk down the street to get a great meal at the local restaurant or hotel.
