Some of the finest wool on the New England was grown at Anketell Forest. The 90 year old shearing mechanics are still bolted to the thick beam. Parts of the wood floor are stained with lanolin where the bale was packed. Almost all the timber used in The Shearing Shed grew amongst these ridges and valleys. The old posts and rafters as well as the new extensions and furniture all hold the colour and nature of the forest.

Sleeping
Two modern spacious bedrooms with are behind the vintage tin wall. Each features a solid timber handmade queen bed, a single daybed, elegant lighting, wide window views, and a fully appointed en-suite with bath, rain-shower and local stone floor. High quality bed and bath linen, and filtered springwater are used throughout.

The Shearing Shed at Anketell Forest is perfect for one or two couples yet can comfortably sleep twelve people with extra sleeping in the living area and an adjacent 3rd bathroom.

Living, decks & dining
As well as musical instruments - drum kit, piano, guitar - the Living Hall has space for dancing, playing, cosying up and relaxing with comfy sofas, wood fire & banquet table. BYO wireless modem (Telstra works best) or hire ours.

Slide back the 6m wall to the covered eastern deck to watch for wildlife on the wallaby lawn. Latch back the double doors to the western staircase and dining balcony to bring the wide views and the sunset inside.

The wide western timber extension features a large kitchen with a five burner gas stove-top, electric oven, microwave, juicer, food processor, fridge and separate freezer, all utensils and tableware. There is even a fantastic Weber 200Q on the deck. Dine on large handmade banquet tables in the Living Hall or overlooking stunning views on the spacious western balcony.
