Cottage, Bed & Breakfast

Located 9.2 kms west of Bendemeer, Farm Cottage B&B is private and cosy, nestled in a quiet valley on our cattle breeding property. Take a walk up to the ridge and feel you are on top of the world with a magic view down the valley. There is abundant wildlife to see and lovely picnic spots along the creek.

Delicious dinners are available, but do require notice please (preferably 72 hours).

See the Milky Way and magnificent stars in the clear night sky.

Breakfast consists of juice, fresh/stewed fruit, cereal, free range local eggs, homemade jams, variety of Twining teas or freshly ground plunger coffee.

Or a breakfast basket can be brought to your cottage to have at your leisure.

Horses are welcome.

For your romantic getaway - peace and quiet, privacy and a later check out. Candlelit dinners are available for that perfect evening but do require prior notice.

There are many picturesque places on our property that would suit the artist or photographer.

Farmland experiences include hopping on the back of the truck when we are feeding hay to the cattle. Feeding our pet calf, Victoria. We are happy to give you a guided tour of our special piece of paradise - please ask.

NOTE: If you are relying on a GPS make sure you put in via the New England Highway or Bendemeer. Our road is numbered from Manilla which adds an extra 1 hours travel. Part of our road is unsealed.

Locally

Bendemeer is halfway between Sydney and Brisbane on the New England Highway. 40 minutes north of Tamworth and 60 minutes south of Armidale. 3.5 hours inland from Port Macquarie. Fresh country air at its best!

Watch the platypus at sunset under the old Bendemeer Bridge. Try trout fishing in the McDonald River. Browse through the Bendemeer Craft Shop which also sells homemade jams, cakes and other goodies. Enjoy a coffee on the banks of the McDonald River. The Pioneer General Store can supply all your grocery requirements. There is also petrol and an ATM at Bendemeer Tourist Park and hearty homestyle meals are available at the Bendemeer Hotel. Bendemeer hosts a rodeo (Feb 13th 2012) and art show (20-22nd & 26th-29th April 2012) and on 24/2th March 2012 the Grey Fergie Tractor Muster will be held. A sight to see, the muster attracts around 175 tractors who participate in tractor games! Along with a variety of stalls it is a fun weekend for all the family.

Further afield

New England is now a recognised wine producing area and has around 14 wineries with cellar doors, some of which have excellent restaurants.

Just up the highway is a lavender farm and cellar door and at Niangala there is a berry farm and trout farm.

Also in the area are antique shops, old book stores, art galleries and cafes.
Gorges, waterfalls, and wonderful bush picnic areas are within an hour's drive.

There is a Craft shop in Bendemeer, where from time to time, workshops are held. There is an annual art show attracting over 400 entries in painting, photography, textiles and embroidery. In conjunction with this show workshops can be available. A folk art studio is also located in the village.

Artists who have been here enjoy the tranquil atmosphere and the fact that there are many accessible areas to set up their easel with wonderful landscapes to inspire.

We have solar hot water and solar photovoltic electric cells installed.
Our garden and vegetables are grown without chemical sprays or fertilisers.
Our cattle are treated only with natural alternatives and our paddocks are not fertilised with chemicals.

Family Friendly

Plastic crockery and cutlery available for children, Games/videos for children over 12 available, Fenced/safe outdoor play area, Kids meal options available.

A highchair is available free of charge. The tennis court gives children a safe level area to play, little ones can ride their plastic bikes on it. Racquets and balls are provided free of charge. There is also a large grassed area suitable for soccer or a game of cricket.

Farmland Experiences

We are a cattle breeding property. Whenever we are working with the cattle in the yards, guests are welcome to come and watch. We are always happy to throw some hay on the back of the ute and take guests out to see our cows and calves and to feed them.

The McDonald River that flows through the village of Bendemeer, is well known for trout and yellow belly. There are many local "favourite" spots. Licences are obtainable from the General Store and Caravan Park both of whom know where to fish.

Romantic getaway

Our cottage has a very cosy atmosphere set amongst rose gardens and established trees. Romantic dinners are a specialty with soft music, candles, silverware and lovely linen. Chilled champagne for your arrival can also be arranged. The cottage is quite private and a late check out is available.

A lovely bunch of lavender sits on the pillows of your bed where the quality linen and comfortable bed welcomes you. Crabtree & Evelyn toiletries and soft towels make your showering experience relaxing.

There are over 14 wineries in the New England region, many within an hour's drive of our property.

We enjoy discussing wines and would be very happy to bring in some local wines for you to taste. This would require some advance notice.

Winter Holiday

Winter temperatures usually below 0 degrees.

Winter is an invigorating time here, with frosts that quite often don't melt until mid morning. Early morning walks are rewarded with droplets of frost glistening like diamonds in the sun. We occasionally have snow. Temperatures can be -6 overnight and day temps. around 10 - 14 degrees.

The cottage is very cosy in winter with a north facing enclosed verandah - just perfect for a lazy start to the day!
