This lovely contemporary 2 storey cottage has all the creature comforts for a recharge - bush views from every window (including the spa), great modern kitchen, spacious lounge/dining room, wood fire, queen beds down and upstairs,luxurious bedlinen and bath sheets, generous farmers breakfast, covered BBQ area, hammocks & picnic table.

Pets are welcome only by arrangement and the deck area is securely fenced.

Favourite pastimes here include taking in the bush views, watching the sun filter through the gums from an early morning spa, cranking up the fire for a cosy night in, BBQ's under the stars, picnic in the bush on the property, wandering up our little road into the forest or a short drive to the beautiful Strath Creek Falls.

If you want to go further afield, you can go in any direction but we highly recommend you plan a day sampling Goulburn valley Wineries: award winning Plunketts wines and restaurant with views onto the Granite hills of the Strathbogies,historic Chateau Tahbilk in the Nagambie Lakes region with vines dating back to the 1850's, Dalfarras wetlands cafe & gallery at Tahbilk built over the billabongs with boardwalks and weekend pont tours,Brave Goose, Maygars Hill, Tarup Ridge, Twelve Acres... the geographical and climatic diversity of the Goulburn Valley region produces excellent varieties of reds and white wines and some spectacular scenery along the way.
Highly recommend a meal at the acclaimed Harvest Home Hotel at Avenel to celebrate a special occasion.

Stringybark is big enough to share with friends and family but intimate enough for two - our aim is to send you home feeling relaxed, pampered and special with some great memories.

Stringybark is in Upper Plenty, north of Melbourne near the Kinglake National Park at the gateway to the Goulburn Valley.
Locals attractions include Mt. Dissapointment State Forest,Kinglake National Park, Funfields Adventure Park at Whittlesea, historic Kilmore, St Andrews market on Saturdays, Golf Driving Range & Cielo Blue Restaurant at Plenty,Plenty Valley & Goulburn Valley Wineries.

The property consists of 100 acres - 40 cleared and the remainder bush. With Mt. Disappointment State Forest as a back drop - the area lends itself to bushwalking, mountain bikes, 4 wheel driving and horse riding - some guests bring their own horses and spend their days exploring the forest on horseback.

The picnic table near the cottage is a great place to spread out a feast on a warm day then laze with a book in the hammocks. Late afternoon kangaroos come out from the bush to graze the paddocks. Mid summer a resident thirsty anteater meanders his way down daily for a drink. There are nearly 40 species of birds(including lyrebirds) in the forest here as well as variety of native animals & deer.

Local vegetation provides an endless variety of colour and texture - the purple sarsaparillas, yellow wattles and spider orchids, red running postman, blue sun orchids - and all within an hours drive of Melbourne -its the best of both worlds!!
