Cottage

Four restored 19th century buildings have been transformed into sophisticated, self-contained cottages. The Church, once a Methodist Chapel, accommodates up to four guests in king size bed on a mezzanine floor and fold down concealed queen-size bed in the lower living area. The Police Superintendent’s Cottage, originally a courthouse and jail, has two king-size bedrooms. Both the Church and Police Superintendent’s Cottage have a spa. Henty Cottage has one queen bedroom, and the two-bedroom Sir John’s Cottage has one queen and two single beds.

Strahan Colonial Cottages have log fires (Deluxe Spa Cottages) and period-style furnishing. Modern facilities are also included: fully-equipped kitchen, laundry and bathroom, and a television and cd player. There are private gardens and outdoor barbecue areas.

Locality

From Strahan, cruise Macquarie Harbour and the Gordon River or take a seaplane flight over World Heritage Area wilderness. Browse the shops for Huon pine artefacts. Go sailing or sea kayaking. Ride a steam train through the mountainous west-coast terrain, or visit Sarah Island, Tasmania’s first penal settlement.
