Holiday house

With panoramic views North across the Gulf of St Vincent, KANGAVIEW offers you stunning sunsets across the sea and night skies which you could only imagine in your dreams. From every room you can gaze out onto bushland, gum trees and rolling woodland vistas.

The relaxing outdoor decking offers an alternative dining experience with fully equipped gas BBQ for those beautiful summer evenings and for the winter alternative curl up infront of the wood fire.

KANGAVIEW has a fully self contained kitchen, 2 large queen size bedrooms, a bunkbed room for 2 and a double sofa bed in the family room. KANGAVIEW comfortably sleeps 8.

Seeing the Kangaroo Island native birds and animals in their own beautiful environment is one of the special things you will do here.

Kangaroos, Wallabies and Echidnas will often be spotted around Kangaview, particularly in the morning and at dusk when they come out to feed.

Birds too are plentiful - from the deck you can keep an eye out for families of blue Wrens (Superb Fairy Wren) hopping in and out of the bushes. Robins, Lorikeets and Rosellas are commonly seen, as are the majestic Wedge Tail Eagles which are always soaring around overhead.

Stokes Bay is the perfect base for exploring Kangaroo Island. Easy to get too from the Airport, Kingscote or Penneshaw, you are also well situated to visit the Western end of the island and the famous Flinders Chase National Park, or the South Coast attractions of Seal Bay, Remarkable Rocks and Vivonne Bay. Kangaview is only 3 minutes drive from the beautiful Stokes Bay Beach with a secret passage to the 'hidden beach', there is great fishing to be had on your doorstep, including a boat ramp for those lucky enough to be bringing their own boat!

Lathami National Park across the road can offer a glimpse of the rare and endangered Glossy Black-Cockatoo. The park is about 1,500 ha in size, and the native vegetation is an important feeding and breeding area for these birds

Kangaview provides a spacious and comfortable space with a marvelous view which we found a perfect base for exploring the island. The owners have gone to great effort to make sure every last detail is attended to. The house is attractive and family friendly - no easy task! The surrounding bush is beautiful and the local beach is great for rock-pooling or for swimming depending on the weather. Kangaroo Island is unique place and I'd definitely recommend Kangaview as a great place to stay.

Locality and Eating Out

Kangaview is right next door to the famous Stokes Bay Bush Gardens (see photos). Wander around the hundreds of plants and shrubs, all Australian Natives and many of which are bird and insect attracting, then check out the workshop where they have some fantastic handmade polished wood items for sale – this is THE place to get a nice piece of polished gum furniture. Then pop back home for a cup of tea or a glass of wine on the deck!

Next to the Bush Gardens is Paul’s Place – a unique wildlife park where you get the chance to see and hold a range of local animals – described as one of the most fun and quirky things you can do during your stay on KI!

There are two great places to eat – Rockpool Café is right next to the Beach, and has an expert chef who can make great seafood lunches or evening meals, perfect for beach picnics. Depending on season and availability they might be able to deliver your evening meal to the door!

Property

Many guests find it hard to leave Kangaview during their holiday on KI. The house and deck enjoy uninterrupted views a rolling canopy of green native bushland.

Thousands of plants, shrubs, bushes and trees all merge together to create a vista worthy of an oil painting – why go anywhere when you can pull up a chair, pour a glass of wine or a cold beer and simply watch the world go by?

You will soon be watching Wedge Tail Eagles soar past overhead, Blue Wrens hopping around the bushes, and countless Rozellas and Lorikeets shooting past.

Towards evening the kangaroos and wallabies start to emerge. You can either head down for an evening stroll or swim at the beach, or fire up the BBQ, get out the binoculars, put your feet up and watch the start of the star show overhead – with no light pollution to spoil the view, the stars in this part of the world are a sight to see!
