The Jetty House in the tiny seaside village of Southport, provides comfortable and affordable accommodation in a spacious historic home.We use organic cotton sheets and towels and have evironmentally friendly systems in place to make sure that your stay is good for you and good for the planet.

Situated on beautiful Southport Bay, the Jetty House offers easy access to coastline, forests and mountains at the edge of the world.

Southport is only 90 minutes drive from Hobart through the tranquil Huon Valley. Whether your idea of a holiday is exploring the wilderness and white beaches or simply relaxing in front of a log fire, the Jetty House is the perfect destination

Locality

Visit Cockle Creek, the end of the road south in Australia, or hike over to South Cape Bay for a view of Australia’s southernmost point. The wild beauty of the south coast is accessible to day walkers in the far south.

Nearby are the Hastings Caves
(both “civilised” and “Adventure” cave tours are available) and the Thermal Springs (warm not hot) in a rain forest setting.

The Duck Hole Lake walk (about 1 ½ hours return) is well worth doing even in rainy weather, as is the Adamsons Falls track (3-4 hours return. Adamsons peak is a challenging walk (about 7 hours return) but you'll appreciate the bath so much more when you've done it!

Further afield is the spectacular Hartz Mountains national park with a range of walks from 20 minutes to 5 hours return as well as the Airwalk and of course some wonderful galleries, cafes and restaurents showcasing local products .

Property

B&B accommodation is provided in the sympathetically restored and environmentally friendly ca.1875 home with loads of original timber features in all four of the spacious bedrooms. There are two lounges with open fireplaces for relaxing when its cold out, and wide verandahs all round so you can enjoy the view over the bay or the sunshine and the garden.
