If you like light-filled, one level living and an open floor plan, leading to semi-shaded gardens for outdoor dining & BBQ on sunny days, then this is for you. Sea Winds is a contemporary design, sand-coloured rendered house, shielded from the street by moonahs. It is very comfy, without being new. It's about 15 years old with some renovations, is freshly painted and spotlessly clean. Main & other double-bed b/r have lovely treed outlooks from big windows. Third b/r has a double bed bunk with single on top & a trundle. One large bathroom with toilet plus separate toilet. Kitchen is fully equipt for meals for 8+, though you bring your own bed linen, towels & pillows unless by agreement. Electric heating, elec blanket (on double bed only) and gas plus portable bbq. Also great for elderly and wheel chair access as no steps or stairs. Rear garden is fully fenced off from front for your (agreed) pet or to protect children & there is plenty of playing area under trees & on lawn. Dining table seats 8; kitchen table seats 4. We request no smoking in the house please. Two outdoor dining settings sit 10. Town water. Small pet welcome, on certain conditions, after discussion between us. All year round there is a dog, leash-free beach at Cameron's Bight, Blairgowrie - the front beach, in the next little township, 10 minutes away by car. No 'Schoolies' type groups thanks.
"We enjoyed our recent stay at Sea Winds. We found the house extremely comfortable, everything we needed was there. The lush native gardens accentuated the secluded atmosphere. It was fantastic to be able to hear the roar of the ocean and to be so close to the shops." Barratt Family, Melbourne. Oct'05.
T-A-B Feedback Jan 06: Seawinds is in a terrific position to be able to walk everywhere at Sorrento - 5 mins to shops...The house is comfortable and clean and met all our needs. A beautiful quiet area.
LocalityThe standout attraction is the close proximity to cinema, restaurants, cafes, galleries, fashion shops, three great hotels and the beaches all within 5 minute walk into the Village. Queenscliffe Ferry and dolphin watching is a 10 min walk away, as is boat hire in summer. Great walks along back beach trails to Diamond Bay and on beach to Portsea as well as along the front beach foreshore and Portsea hilltop. Sorrento back beach an easy road or bush walk (10 mins) to the surf club & quality coffee stop/restaurant, looking over Bass Strait and beach/surfers. National Park at Portsea is 10 min car drive to historical bush walks, bike hire, bbq's. Main Ridge and Red Hill wineries galore are 20 mins away, along Boneo Road to Purves Road and nearby. Tastings and cellar door sales plus great restaurants attached to the vineyards. Several quality golf courses within easy reach and the new hot springs/yoga and cafe on Browns Road, Rye is about 10-15 minutes. The Sorrento Sailing and Couta Club races are a great attraction over summer, just up the road from the Village. Portsea, in the other direction, boasts the spectacular Portsea Hotel, scuba diving in the bay and surfing, Point Nepean park and great views at the back beach. Various swimming, surfing and street carnivals are held between December and March, but in many ways winter is the nicest time at Sorrento. Good restaurants, movies, spectacular walks, reading and good wine make for a refreshing break. Indoor swimming at Rosebud on Boneo Road near freeway entrance. LEASH-FREE DOG BEACHES over winter (outside of daylight saving time) are the Sorrento Beach - 100 metres east of the Sorrento Sailing Club and Shelley Beach, Portsea - access via Hempston Ave car park, as well as many other spots - check with the council on 1300 850 600. Native GardenWe are aiming to develop a totally indigenous native garden at Sea Winds Sorrento and while we only part way there yet, you will see we have replanted moonahs, the original tree of the area and have also planted correas, cushion bush and banksias and she oaks. By planting the original species we hope to make the property drought proof whereby it will never need watering and will help to repopulate the bird life, if not the ground animals which are all but gone in this area. The last goanna that I saw in the bushes was about four years ago. Unfortunately, I think development has meant the end of native ground animals in this area.
