Locheilan is a traditional in-house B&B. Comfort, peace,and a lovely garden setting with wonderful birds awaits those who want a break only 200 km north of Melbourne. We welcome pets to stay also. We make our own cheese, so taste delights await you.

Pet friendly

Dogs are welcome to stay inside at Locheilan if they live inside at home. As we only have the one booking at a time, then there is no need to worry about any dog disagreements or rivalries. In winter most dogs love to curl up in front of the open fire, and throughout the year they love to check the resident (wild) rabbits that live in the front garden. We do have an enclosed verandah where pets can sleep if guests prefer them to be outside. We have safe paddocks for horses, and we prefer cats to stay inside so they do not frighten our wonderful native birds. Alpacas, goats, chickens, roosters, guinea pigs, have all stayed at Locheilan with appropriate arrangements made for each. We love animals!

Bed & Breakfast, Farm stays

Guests have exclusive use of a luxurious sitting room with an open fire in winter, fans and air conditioning in summer. There is a fully enclosed verandah overlooking the garden where breakfasts are served in the morning sun. Breakfasts are hearty, and individually prepared from home grown ingredients whenever possible - eggs, tomatoes, herbs, fruit and home made breads and jams.
You are welcome to bring your pets to stay as well. They can stay inside if they live inside at home, or can stay on our fully enclosed verandah next to the living room.

Locheilan is a commercial dairy farm where we also make our own cheese.

Guests can view the whole process from caring for the cows, milking, pasteurising and then cheesemaking.
Wunghnu is in the centre of the fertile Goulburn Valley, a short drive to Echuca with its river history and Rutherglen's vine delights.

Property

As Locheilan is a commercial dairy farm, guests are welcome to wander all over the farm, view milking, be part of calf feeding, calving cows, feeding hay and irrigating.
We have a variety of birds with distinct personalities. The geese have fascinating family characteristics, the guinea fowl always have plenty to say as they run around on their tiny little legs, the peacocks love to display their finery to anyone and everyone, the chooks are busy laying eggs and scratching around in the ground and the crested pigeons make up to each other all year round!

Only one booking at a time, second room is for children or extra adults in the one group. Individually prepared evening meals available for $25 per head with some prior notice required.
