Seymour is about an hour's drive north of Melbourne along the scenic Hume Highway. In winter it is a popular stopover enroute to the snow fields at Mt Buller and Lake Mountain. There are several wineries, including Chateau Tahbilk, Plunketts and Mitchelton within a 15 minute drive. A popular event in October is the Tastes of the Goulburn festival where visitors can enjoy local wines, produce, gourmet food, music and entertainment.

Central Victoria's premier Fine Art Gallery is housed in the historic Old Post Office Seymour dating from 1872. The Seymour Railway Heritage Centre and Locomotive Museum offer fascinating glimpses into the past. For horse racing fans the Seymour Cup is held in October. Go Kart and Motocross Racing is also popular, or try rowing at the Nagambie Rowing Centre on Lake Nagambie.
Seymour is close to the Puckapunyal army training grounds and the Puckapunyal Tank Museum.

Wattle Motel is situated on the banks of the Goulburn River where guests can enjoy the new boardwalk walking trail, fantastic for nature walks where wallabies, kangaroos and koalas can be seen along with abundant native bird life and other fauna and flora. The river is a popular place for fishing and boating and picturesque enough to be the subject for many photographers and painters.
