Locality

In the summer with the leafy shade of the trees and the dappled sunlight on the hand cut sandstone buildings or n autumn when the beech trees in the main street are shown in all their glory. Ross in any season is the place to relax in the unique atmosphere of old world charm, tranquillity and picturesque landscapes.

Ross is in the centre of the State of Tasmania within easy travel time of Launceston, Hobart, the sunny East Coast and the Central Highlands.

Famous for the third oldest and most beautiful bridge in Australia with convict carvings (1836). Ross (settled in 1812) is one of Australia’s most original convict built stone villages, nestled on the banks of the Macquarie River.

Ross has much to see and do including a Heritage Museum and Wool Exhibition, convict Female Female Factory site and original burial grounds, shopping for antiques, jewellery, bric-a-brac, clothing, garden centre, art and wood crafts, bakeries, fishing and of course we highly recommend T Spot.

Property

We are newcomers to Ross having fallen in love on our visits to
Tasmania. We love our stone cottage “Haynook” (circa 1835 )and our shop “T Spot”(circa 1890 ) (Café/Tea House and gift shop) which we restored and opened in March 2008. Our little farmlet of 4 acres is a work in progress and we are enjoying our new found lifestyle and would be very pleased to share it with you.

Our animals are all friendly and no doubt our miniature horses Bluey and Miss Saffy will introduce themselves. The sheep and chooks are more aloof but productive and our ducks, Splish and Splash ,are timid but are very sweet and entertaining. Our dog Floyd is gorgeous ,but far too enthusiastic for visitors and spends most his time inside on his chair.

We think it is great you can have a quiet rural experience and yet be a 5 minute walk to the village.

We are pleased to offer our guests a discount of 10% on any dining or gift purchase from our shop.
