Matilda's dates from 1865 and was home to several generations of the same family. Considered one of the most important properties in the Huon Valley, the main house, Oast House and gardens are listed with the National Trust.
Our cottage rooms allow you to retain privacy and peace while enjoying the traditional feel of a bed and breakfast. The rooms each have a Queen sized bed, sitting area, breakfast nook and adjoining ensuite (Potting Shed has a spa). Beautifully decorated and well appointed, you will find our rooms comfortable and cosy, and everything we offer has an emphasis on quality.
Matildas is situated on over 5 acres of gardens and parkland, with the river at our lower boundary. The property is surrounded by orchards and farm land, just 2 km from town. All Huon Trail attractions are easily accessed from here.
The heartfelt and generous entries in our guest books are welcomed and treasured, however we value our guests privacy. We would never publicise these guest book entries for promotional purposes, and share them only with other guests at Matilda's.
LocalityWe are fortunate to be located so conveniently and are handy to all the attractions of the Huon Valley - including Home Hill Winery, Tahune Air Walk and Peppermint Bay.
We are situated half an hour from Hobart, 2 minutes from Huonville and at least a hundred years from the rest of the world. PropertyThere are 5 and a half acres of parklands and gardens to enjoy here, plus an historic oast house (C.1912). Mountain River is our lower boundary and this delightful property is a pleasure to explore and walk around.
