Cottage, Guest house, Lodge

Welsumer Lodge is one bedroom with a loft and sleeps 4 people, there are 2 queen beds and on request a fold-up bed can be added. This modern and stylish lodge combines country charm together with contemporary, it is fully self contained with all necessary comforts provided to make your stay an enjoyable experience. The wrap around verandah with extended deck overlooks the natural bushland.
Sebright Lodge is one bedroom with queen bed and is fully self contained, it is cute, cosy and very comfortable. It has a spacious verandah where guests can sit and watch the birdlife and just relax in the peaceful surroundings.
Facilities in both lodges include: Quality furnishings, TV; DVD and CD player. Microwave, alarm clock, hair dryer, iron and ironing board, electric blankets, woollen blankets and doona, linen and towels, reverse cycle air conditioning, complimentary tea, coffee, milk butter and spreads and locally made biscuits. There is plenty of secure off street parking on the property.
In the main residence there are 2 private bedrooms 1 with queen bed the second with twin singles. The linen is supplied and there is quality woollen blankets, doonas, and electric blankets provided. Continental breakfast is included in the tariff served in the guest lounge/dining room where there is a TV, DVD and CD players. This room opens out into the lovely courtyard where you can sit and watch the birdlife or enjoy your breakfast in the morning sunshine . The guest bathroom has bath, shower recess, vanity and toilet there is also a separate powder room with toilet.

Roosters Rest is situated on the outskirts of the seaside hamlet of Port Sorell known as the "Port of Golden Beaches" and only a few minutes by car to:

Narawntapu National Park is a place for peace for people and wildlife, it is 20 minutes from Port Sorell. The park includes numerous walking tracks to cater for all level of fitness; swimming and fishing are also popular activities.

Devonport Airport is just 10 min.
Spirit of Tasmania Terminal Ferry 15min
Launceston is 1 hour
Cradle Mountain 1.5 hours

The historic town of Latrobe is 20 minutes from Port Sorell where you can enjoy the following:
Anvers Chocolate factory
The Cherry Shed where you can experience the taste of great cherry products.
There are Antique shops to browse through and an amazing store called Reliquaire which you have to experience.
Don't miss the Fine Art Gallery and the Sunday markets and if you want to see a Platypus book a tour through the Information Centre.

Roosters Rest is nestled on a quiet no through road and set amid attractive gardens and surrounded by 5 acres of natural bushland. There is an abundance of bird life and at night if you sit quietly on your veranda you will be able to enjoy the local pademelons grazing around the property.
A gas barbecue and outdoor dining area is located in the lovely gardens for the use of our guests and their visitors to enjoy.
There is secure off street parking and a lock up garage is available for your bicycles or kayaks.

Less than 5 minutes drive to the beach.

Only a few minutes bt car are Hawley and Freers Beach both are pristine and family friendly. Panatana Family Park has a toddlers paddling pool, toilets and barbecue facilities.

Visit Narawntapu National Park and from the Springlawn information hut there is an easy circuit walk which takes you through a coastal thicket to the lagoon bird hide.

Narawntapu National Park is a short drive from our property. There are a variety of walks to cater for all levels of fitness, from a 20min circuit and for those that like a full day's hike there are longer walks which take 6-8 hours return trip. Cradle Mtn N/Park is 1.5hrs drive from Port Sorell there are numerous short, half-day and full-day walks.

Roosters Rest is a 5 acre fully fenced property plenty of room to run around, but we would appreciate the children be under their parents supervision at all times.

The Rubicon River has some wonderful fishing spots and if you have your own boat ocean fishing is also popular. Boat hire is available in Port Sorell and includes rod and tackle. We can direct you to bait and equipment suppliers snd also where to purchase your licence. The boat ramp is a 5 minute drive.

Port Sorell Golf Club is a 9-hole golf course Par 68 set at Shearwater Resort. Fully stocked pro shop and hire clubs available. Meals and drinks available on site.
Thirstane Golf Club is a 9-hole golf course, Par 72 in tranquil bushland surroundings.
Visitors are welcome at both clubs.

At Narawntapu National Park there are holding yards and a riding trail for horse enthusiasts. The trail winds through open plains and coastal vegetation providing an alternative way of experiencing the park and the abundant wildlife in the region.

We welcome your pets but due to health regulations they are to be kept outside on the the verandah of the lodge you are accommodating. Your pets will be able to see you inside so please bring their own bedding/kennel so they feel at home. We are on 5 acres which is fenced so there is plenty of room to take them for a supervised walk. We have a family of pademelons which frequent our property, plus possums and bandicoots we do not like them to be chased! We love all animals but we request that you be responsible pet owners if you decide to bring them to Roosters Rest.

The Tamar Valley Wine Route and the North West Wine Route are easily accessible by car we can provide route maps or local Tour Companies offer half or full day visits. Ghost Rock Vineyard and Cellar Door is just a few minutes drive from our property.
