Tanonga eco lodges offer an intimate sanctuary of luxury, style and comfort.
You have a choice of two luxury eco lodges, each with their own unique outlook.

Feel "on top of the world" perched high on the hilltop with 360° panoramic views all the way to Boston Bay at our ridge site, or "be nurtured by nature" and nestle into a park-like setting with magnificent native bush views all around you at the valley site. the choice is yours.

Interiors feature natural limestone walls, large north facing windows, king-size beds, Japanese style bath (and yes. there is a view from here too!), a wood fire in winter, all set and ready to go, entertainment system with mp3 connection, full catering facilities (of course there is an espresso coffee machine!), hairdryer, ironing facilities, air-conditioner, washing machine, dishwasher and ceiling fans.

Add to all this the option of fresh local seafood, organic produce and beverages, and you have all the ingredients for a truly indulgent retreat.

In addition to your delicious breakfast of farm fresh eggs, cereal, jams, fresh fruit, biodynamic milk and yogurt, your kitchen is stocked with quality local olive oil and basic organic (where possible) condiments.

The bar is also stocked with local white and red wines, beer, sparkling wine, soft drinks and local organic nuts and dried fruits (charges apply). Your individual bar orders can also be arranged.

The Eyre Peninsula region is world renown for its top restaurant quality seafood. Michael and Jill also offer delicious catering packages of local fresh seasonal produce so you can enjoy your holiday without the trouble of sourcing your own food and beverages.
Packages can include lobster, fresh fish, prawns and oysters, cheeses, specialty meats, fruit and vegetables, and award-winning local wines. Pre-ordering at least two days before your arrival is essential.

Locality

Tanonga is the perfect place to relax and recharge.

Explore the extensive walking trails and discover the natural billabong and permanent springs. Winter and early spring offer a vast array of flowering local plants and orchids as well as many birds which come to breed at Tanonga. November through to March is a special time when critically endangered Yellow tailed black cockatoos come to nest in the Allepo pines (Pinus halepensis) on the property.
Your Tanonga stay is also a fantastic way to experience first-hand the principles of environmentally-sensitive and sustainable design and solar power.
There are a multitude of things to see and do in and around the area, and Michael and Jill are more than happy to assist you with connections to experience fishing charters, 4WD adventures, golf, cultural experiences, wine tastings, swimming with sea lions and dolphins at Bairds Bay, cage diving with sharks or swimming with tuna in Boston Bay, visiting the Gawler Ranges and many other tours and attractions on Eyre Peninsula and the west coast.

Property

Located near Port Lincoln, at the southern end of Eyre Peninsula, Tanonga luxury eco lodges are situated on a 200 hectare historic property, ‘Tanonga’ owned by your hosts Michael and Jill Coates.

Two unique, architect-designed eco lodges, set amongst regenerating native forest, create a luxury eco experience unique to this area. Modern and sensitive environmental design, stunning views, japanese-style bath, delicious local food and beverages, and luxurious self-contained facilities enhance the natural beauty of your surroundings.

At Tanonga, deliberate plantings of over 25,000 native trees, shrubs, understorey grasses and sedges recreate the she-oak grassy and sugar gum woodlands that once dominated this local landscape.

There are over 100 recorded bird species in the area and specific attention has been paid to plantings which encourage birdlife, particularly for endangered, vulnerable and rare species such as the Yellow-Tailed Black Cockatoo.
