Cottage, Holiday house, Holiday unit

Birch House generates a warm, relaxed feeling as the character of the building shines through. Sit back in the luxury of a Chesterfield leather lounge suite and relax in front of the open fire, or move out on to the deck amidst the beautiful gardens.

With queen beds in bedrooms 1 and 2, 2 single beds in the 3rd bedroom, a spa bath, a huge fully equipped country kitchen and air-conditioning for those warmer days, Birch House provides a perfect escape for couples, families or a group of friends.

Birch House also has a mud brick unit, "Birch studio", nestled in the extensive private gardens. This luxurious couple accommodation is fully self contained, has a queen bed, a new timber & stone fully equipped kitchen, cathedral ceilings and a wood fire. It has a charm and character all of its own. With garden furniture settings on the lawns in the shadows of the enormous trees, this makes a tranquil relaxing setting for a romantic getaway.

The gardens have an array of different types of plants and trees attracting an abundance of birdlife. Koalas also visit the huge gum trees in the garden on a regular basis.

Just a few minutes stroll to the main street of historic, quaint Koroit, you can enjoy renowned restaurants, pubs and cafés. Explore Tower Hill Game Reserve, the Heritage Trail, Koroit Art Gallery, Botanical Gardens, the Port Fairy-Warrnambool Rail Trail, historic Tower Hill Cemetery, or visit Killarney Beach. It's all at your doorstep!

With mountain bikes provided for your use, take a ride around the town. It's a perfect way to discover the charm of this interestingly historic, picturesque town of Koroit.

Koroit is a historic, picturesque, quaint town with great food and wine, the famous Mickey Bourke’s Hotel, the ever popular Izzy’s Restaurant Bar & Grill, Koroit Country Bakehouse, antique shops galore, all within walking distance of Birch House. Killarney Beach and Tower Hill are just minutes drive away, as are Warrnambool and Port Fairy. Some suggestions are below to help plan your stay.

Tower Hill -
Koroit is nestled on the northern slopes of the dormant volcano Tower Hill. Tower Hill is believed to have first erupted about 30,000 years ago. It was declared Victoria’s first National Park in 1892. Home to koalas, kangaroos, emus, echidnas, wombats, many bird species, and much more, with a number of walks, picnic areas and public facilities, it makes for a great and interesting place to visit.

Mickey Bourke’s Hotel -
The famous Mickey Bourke’s Koroit Hotel has been trading as a hotel for over 150 years. This historic Irish hotel is also one of the first examples of Art Noveau architecture in Australia.

Birch House is approx 120 years old, circa late 1880's. Koroit is a historic town and has an official Heritage Trail which includes one of the first Art Deco buildings in Australia and significant church buildings, as well as heritage listed main street. Even the trees in our street are heritage listed! (planted over 120 years ago)

Rundell's at Warrnambool have horse riding trails running daily, many along the beach and some which go from Warrnambool to Port Fairy. Rundell's is less than 10 minutes from Birch House

Tower Hill is significant to Indigenous Australians and tours are run at Tower Hill. There is also a shop and discovery centre at Tower Hill featuring Indigenous artworks.

Top quality pillow top mattresses and a choice of firm or softer pillows. The kitchen has every requirement you could expect including a coffee machine and fresh coffee. Coffee bags are also provided for those who like a more instant brew. We also provide a Twinings tea box with 12 varieties of tea. Our aim is to provide a luxurious accommodation that is a cut above the rest.

There is an art gallery in Koroit, and of course Port Fairy is steeped in history, so it too has galleries and museums. The most significant museum of course is the award winning Maritime Museum in Warrnambool with its nightly laser light show. Truly a must visit.

Warrnambool's Logan's Beach, just 10 mins drive from Birch House, is famous for whale watching as the mother whales and their calves visit the area on an annual pilgrimage.
