Locality

The property itself is a 800m walk along the river to the centre of Porepunkah, where you will find a general store, pub, cafe and a lovely park with playground and free paddling pool.
It is a 5 minute drive to Bright where you will find a supermarket and a wider variety of shops.

Property

The unit is part of a quiet complex of 10 other units. The unit is cosy but you will find everything you need for a comfortable stay including a full kitchen. A shared BBQ area right at the front door is a convenient way to take advantage of the beautiful surrounds and enjoy the mountain air.

A walking track at the rear of the property provides access to the Murray to Mountains Rail Trail. There are many walking and mountain bike trails in the area as well as bushwalks catering for all standards, especially in nearby Mt Buffalo National Park.

Canoeing & Kayaking

Less than 5 minutes drive to water.

With the Ovens River running a few hundred metres behind the property you can launch a kayak at any accessible point. Be aware that there is a 1m wall just upstream of the Great Alpine Rd bridge in Porepunkah which usually requires getting out and walking the vessel around the wall.
There is a small backyard at the unit with an enclosed carport area where a kayak can be stored but it is not secured.
Other popular kayaking areas nearby include the Buckland and King Rivers, Lake Buffalo near Myrtleford and Rocky Valley Storage at Falls Creek.

Fishing

Plenty of fishing is available from the Ovens River at the rear of the property and the surrounding tributaries with trout being the popular catch. The Harrietville Trout farm (20 minutes) is a good day out or an unsucessful day's alternative.

Porepunkah Golf Course is 5 minute drive from the unit. It is an 18-hole golf course.

Winter Holiday

Mt Buffalo is a 30 minute drive away and is a fantastic snow play destination. More reliable snow for activities such as skiing are an hour away at Mt Hotham, Dinner Plain and Falls Creek. It is compulsary to carry chains into an Alpine region during winter.
