Guest Reviews

"Spectacular views - setting sunset and sunrise with the mist rising over the riverland on a cold morning.
So much space in the house and well equipped."

"The Pike River Woolshed exceeded all expectations. Very clean and cosy, with all amenities available, a cosy wood fire AND central ducted heating and cooling. Nice linen. Comfortable beds. AMAZING views and location. A great place to take our dog, although perhaps not as well-fenced as I would have liked, but all dogs are different. We will return."

"Don't judge a book by its cover! When we first pulled up at the property we wondered what we had let ourselves in for! Although in a beautiful setting, rustic was the word for the building! However once inside we realised just how special this place is! Spacious, welcoming, warm (it was winter!) and well-equipped... a real home from home. It was also decorated with old tools and nick-nacks that sit there begging to be picked up and examined! It was a real bonus that we could take our dog with us too. We would recommend Pike River Woolshed to family and friends and we hope to go back there for a longer stay some time in the future. The property is a credit to the owners."

"Great place to get away from it all. Accomodation was top class, everything that was needed was supplied. Hosts very friendly and accomodating but respected our privacy. View to die for. Will be back again."

"Great place. Obviously twenty minutes our of Renmark, so not a walk to theatres etc! But for a time to sit, enjoy the view and read in air-conditioned relaxation, fantastic! Because it was a family home before being used for holiday accommodation it is large. It means that, for the price of a motel, you have can two living rooms to wander around, a large veranda to sit on, and an Aussie view over the river flats. River access and some water equipment - kayaks etc - are available as well. A good, relaxing place and the owners are good people to connect with"

"This was my wife Anna's favourite out of the five places we stayed at on our S.A. trip (although all the others were also excellent) Wonderfully spacious, especially for the two of us, with large comfortable lounge and well-equipped kitchen, fantastic verandah with superb view over the river flats and really appreciated the complimentary local port and the use of kayaks. The property is fairly remote and isolated, but that's one of the things that appealled to us. Remarkably inexpensive considering the quality of accommodation. Would love to stay there again for a longer period."

"We had an absolutely wonderful stay at the Woolshed. Andrew was very helpful and friendly. We loved the rustic outside with the very comfortable and delightful interior. Though very dry at the moment the views were beautiful. The dog loved it too. Very good value for money. Thanks Andrew."

"Great value for money, the little extras such as the cheese and fruit platter, wine and port and dog friendly too. we and the woofers had a great time and very relaxing, the aircon was fantastic and very needed.Owners very helpful and friendly.
my only negative comment is that the description of the propery and the photos give the impression it is on the riverfront but is actually on the cliff above and a steep walk on uneven ground or a rough car ride down"

"Fantastic accommodation, with all the comforts of home, plus many thoughtful extras that make the Woolshed a very special place to stay. Great for kids & the family dog alike, with a safe, flat play area viewable from the shaded verandah & deck, as well as the proximity to the river for lots of swimming & kayaking fun. Hosts Andrew & Bronny are friendly & welcoming, but unobtrusive - just what you need for a relaxing, enjoyable stay."

"Pike River Woolshed was the ideal location for our Riverland vacation as it is central to all towns and not too far from any. The rural aspect is a great change from city life and great for kids. Excellent facilities throughout."

"The house doesn’t look like much from the outside but the interior is superbly restored. Very homely and relaxing, great facilities – two toilets very handy. Fantastic air-conditioning for the summer months open fire for winter. Canoes were great fun, and the shaded landing area by the river was great.
Great value for money, couldn't complain about anything.
Owner very helpful and friendly with prompt service."

"The Wool Shed is the most magnificent place. We were welcomed with open arms and made to feel like we were long lost friends who had returned. The homestead was so beautiful it was more beautiful then we could have imagined it to be. The rooms were gorgeous and to sit in front of the fire place and drink champagne and just relax was so wounderful. Being able to sit on the verandah watching the sun set was wounderful experience. The scenery was to die for it made the whole experience so much more wounderful. I cant say enough about the Wool Shed and the wounderful people who own it and run it they are wounderful people with huge hearts and they made us feel so welcome. Thank you Crystal and Heather"

"After a long drive we were so happy to get to our first stop on our driving holiday from Sydney to South Australia.
The hospitality and amenities at the Pike River Woolshed were fantastic. The rooms were well appointede and comfortable. The cheese plate and DVDs were just what we needed to relax and thanks for the use of the kayaks. Fantastic. Wish we could have stayed longer."

"We spent very comfortable night at Pike River Woolshed. The spa was a surprise we enjoyed very much. There were also some special treats of local fruit and port. The house was very clean, roomy and quiet. I would be very happy to recommend . "
Guest rating: 5/5  - Kim, NSW - July 06

"We had a wonderful time at the Pike River Woolshed and would advise anyone to stay there. Our family was welcomed by Andrew (even though we were later than we said), a toasty warm home and a gorgeous selection of complimentary local foods awaited us as well. Preselected local wines at a modest price were greatly appreciated.
The Woolshed had every convenience that you could want and more. The wooly heat packs for cold toes a lovely touch.
A beautiful view, cosy beds, homely touches everywhere, spa, lovely fire, kayaks, and the list goes on.
We stayed for three nights but could have stayed forever.
Heaven in Lyryp."
