This secluded homely cottage tucked into tall timbers offers a fully equipped kitchen/dining. Three bedrooms plus a reading/play room off the main lounge room with games, puzzles and books. All linen and towels are provided. We also provide a d.i.y. country breakfast (bacon and eggs etc) so all you need to bring is your food.

In the winter enjoy a cozy log fire (chopped wood provided) or toast some marshmallows on an outdoor camp-fire. Lilly Pilly Cottage is airconditioned for those hot summer days, then in the evening enjoy a barbecue on the back patio overlooking the Australian bush.

Bring your torches and spot the possum, find a kangaroo or other nocturnals or just take a stroll in the bush.

All this is on a quiet 100 acre property. You can also go for a short drive and canoe, swim, picnic or BBQ at beautiful Lake Leschenaultia or a picnic at Nobel Falls.

Lilly Pilly Cottage extends a warm welcome to children having activities which delight them, like the morning and evening feeding of the friendly farm animals. The farm environment allows opportunity for children to bond with the animals and interact with nature. Farm- stay experience suits all ages and people.

In the morning watch the milking of Betsie our Jersey cow (in season) and taste milk that is truly 'farm fresh'. Children can assist in the feeding of Blue and and our miniature Shetland Amy - a lovable, very huggable 'My Little Pony' look alike, who loves to be brushed. Meet Baci our beautiful Palomino pony. Hand feed Inca and Cuzco the alpacas and very friendly sheep. Also, hand feed the chooks and ducks.

A pony ride (led) on Amy is also available on request, at an extra cost.

Find peace, tranquility and relaxation whilst you watch your family have fun and visit some of the most well kept secrets in the Perth Hills. Gidgegannup is situated between the Swan & Avon Valleys a pleasant 50 minute scenic drive from Perth for your West Australian country farm holiday.

In Chidlow, only 15min sth/east, is one of the Hills best kept summer secrets - Lake Leschenaultia - it's a huge fresh water lake on a 168 hectare bushland park. Here you can sit under the shade of a gum tree paddling your feet in the lake, while you watch your kiddies splashing about. All this plus a vast lawned picnic area with BBQ's for those warm summer evenings. Activities include: swimming, cycling, bird-watching and canoeing.

Property

Lilly Pilly Cottage is the only guest cottage on our family working farm. By permaculture methods we provide most of our family's fruit and veges. We don't use pesticides or herbicides on our vineyard or farm and the wine we produce is preservative free.
Sometime in March we have our yearly grape harvest. This is when our Shiraz grapes are hand-picked and crushed for the year's vintage. After the grapes are picked we celebrate the harvest by enjoying a smorgasbord of food and a taste of last year's vintage.

There's Berry Reserve on our very road which offers 1200 acres of pristine bush to walk in and you can picnic at the beautiful seasonal waterfall and refresh. Noble Falls is another place to enjoy a picturesque bush trail and lovely waterfalls. In Chidlow, a 15 min drive, Lake lescenaultia has extensive walk trails all around the huge lake. Spring is magnificent with the abundant wildflowers in our beautiful Australian bush.

Lake Lescenaultia is only a 15 min drive enjoy this massive man made lake and either hire a conoe or bring your own. Toodyay and the Avon River are only a short drive from the cottage.

As part of being our guest we provide with your booking a d.i.y. country breakfast. With a fully equipped kitchen and an outdoor bbq enjoy your breakfast a bushland setting . This includes fresh farm milk and eggs, bread, butter and bacon. Coffee and tea are provided.

Our family friendly farm offers children an opportunity to experience tree climbing and cubby making in a safe bush environment. The tyre swing hanging off the large Jarrah, just outside the cottage, will give the children hours of fun. Also, outside the back door children can pat and feed the goats their left-over carrot or apple core. There is a swing set for younger children as well and a small sand pit alongside which can be supervised from the outdoor patio. Inside the cottage there are games, puzzles, books and a DVD player for the children to enjoy infront of the log fire on a winter's day. All this will give the children a taste of rural life and an opportunity to explore and experience our beautiful native bush in a large and safe environment. We know staying at Lilly Pilly Cottage will give you and your family a family friendly farm stay experience.

Farmland Experiences

Farm animals live on the property, Sheep, Cattle, Chickens, Horses, Dogs, Other farm animals, Guests able to interact with the farm animals.

Meet our farm pets: Betsy our milking Jesey cow with her heifer Lilly, Boof,Blue, Baci and gorgeous Ami a beautiful Shetland/Miniture pony who loves to be petted. The cottage overlooks our friendly pet goats where you can also hand feed Cusko and Inka our alpacas. Our free range ducks and geese wonder around the farmyard. There are also sheep in the paddock which during the dry season come up for their evening feed. Monty our Groodle (Golden Retriever/Poodle) and Sooky our pet dogs welcome all the children.

Lilly Pilly Cottage is on a working farm with 5 acres of organic Shiraz grapes and Farmer Ray produces an excellent organic wine.

On our very road is Berry Reserve, 1200acres of pristine bushland to explore with a natural rock waterfall to experience - A well kept local secret.

Horse riding

We have led pony rides on Amy our beautiful Shetland/Miniture pony and Boof a bombproof pony, these are availabe at $20 per half hour. A short 15 minute drive takes you to horse riding in Chidlow at Forge Farm Riding School phone to make a booking on 9572 4445 - they offer lessons, trail rides and winery rides.

A perfect environment to enjoy the Australian winter naturally. Bring your wellies and jacket and walk in the bush enjoying the smells of the Eucalyptus. Bushwalk to the bottom of our property and let the children explore and splash in the winter creek a good kilometer walk from the cottage.
Enjoy the secluded tranquility of the cottage with your family on a rainy winters day infront of the open log fire, with all the firewood provided daily. With a glass of port you can experience the cosy, romantic atmosphere a wood fire creates in the evenings when the children have gone to bed.
