Opened in April, 1999, the timber picture theatre is the only one remaining in Western Australia and its restoration has created a great deal of interest both locally and overseas. The Old Picture Theatre operated as a picture theatre until the early 1970's. The accommodation features some of the original fittings of the old Picture Theatre, while enjoying modern conveniences such as reverse-cycle air conditioning and a dishwasher.
The spacious 4.5 star rating self-contained apartments and Adyar Cottage (originally a group settlement home) have fantastic facilities and all have access to a barbecue, guest laundry and spa in the amenities building. Admire the original polished jarrah floor boards, stained glass doors, jarrah wash stands, timber dados, period skirting boards, high ceilings, decorative cornices and ceiling roses of a past era, while enjoying the convenience of modern appointments such as reverse-cycle air conditioning, television, DVD player, microwave oven and dishwasher.
Each apartment features a fully equipped kitchen with a full-sized fridge and gas hot plates, extensive living areas, dining area and a large bathroom (approx. 70 sq metres total area). The high standards of furniture and fittings add to the atmosphere of luxury and quality. The Stage and Adyar Cottage have their own personal spas.
The kitchen cupboards are solid jarrah and the bedrooms feature queen size brass beds with orthopaedic mattresses and crisp white sheets. The apartments are fully equipped for self catering with ample cooking utensils and quality cutlery, crockery and glassware.
The general features of the Accommodation are that it: is close to tourist attractions; uses energy efficient sources that include solar panels; comes with the history of the building; has a large living area; and provides a blend of the past with the new.

Locality

Only 4 hours drive from Perth, Pemberton is a very central base to explore the South West. A regular Trans WA bus service connects Pemberton to Perth, Albany, Bunbury and Augusta. The "Old Picture Theatre" Apartments are a short walk from the bus terminal and pick up can be arranged. Located almost opposite the Post Office in Ellis Street, the apartments have views over the town of Pemberton and are a short walk to the supermarket, shops, cafes, restaurants and the Pemberton Hotel.

The apartments are within walking distance of woodcraft and art galleries, wineries and tourist attractions such as the Gloucester Tree and the Pemberton Tramway. The central town location provides an excellent base for day trips to the National Parks and tourist attractions which are all close to town or the Tree Top Walk which is only a leisurely 90 minute drive through magnificent countryside.
