Cottage, Holiday unit, Holiday apartment

The cottage is a simple retreat with access to a safe beach for walking, exploring and all water activities.

The kitchen has a pantry, fridge/freezer, hotplates, toaster, electric jug and crockery. The bathroom has a combined shower over bath, with toilet and washing machine.

The main bedroom has a double bed, and small walk-in robe. The second bedroom has 3 bunks, with storage under the bunks and on shelving.

The outside deck is large and overlooks the water. A sun umbrella and outside chairs are provided.

Where.
The Cottage is on the main beach at Opossum Bay, which is 30-40minute drive from Hobart CBD, and 40 minutes from Hobart Airport. The public bus route goes past the Cottage.

To Do.
There is also easy access to heritage and trail walks, plus the surfing and fishing ares of the South Arm/ Opossum bay peninsula.

BBQ and playground are 100m South of the Cottage.

Restaurants.
The General Store is open 7 days for groceries and takeaways. It is 200m walk South from the Cottage.

There is a restaurant, Bar, pizza at South Arm which is 7km South from the Cottage.

Situated right on Opossum Bay beach , overlooking the River Derwent to Mount Wellington is an exquisite place to enjoy a break. Whether in the summer with the yachts passing by, strolls along a stunning beach or in the cooler months watching the everchanging views while keeping cosy inside. This is a superb place to retreat to.

Beach

Direct access to the beach is via a gate in front of the cottage. Here you can sunbake, walk along a pristine beach, build sand castles, swim, snorkel or enjoy a variety of water activities.

Birdwatching

There is a large state reserve a 10 minute walk from the cottage that has a variety of bird species and walking tracks. There also some aboriginal middens to be discovered at the "Arm End "

Canoeing & Kayaking

Guests welcome to bring their own canoe/kayak, Secure storage facilities available, Located on waterfront, Less than 5 minutes walk to water.

Kayaks and other water craft can be launched in front of the cottage directly onto the beach. There is storage available in the garage . There are planty of options for kayaking from the beach.

Close to Public Transport

Public transport within 5 minute walk, Bus service.

Public bus service runs immediately in front of the cottage, with bus stops 100m South or North.

Family Friendly

At street level there is a flat fenced area suitable for outdoor games. There is a playground 100m from the cottage. The beach in front of the cottage is safe, and clean with a gentle increase in depth ( no rips/undertow). The sand is great for sand sculpures. There is a selection of board games available.

Fishing

Located on waterfront, Fishing spots available nearby, Local fishing knowledge available, Located less than 5 mins walk to water, Located less than 5 minute drive to water, Boatramp within 5 minute drive, Boat storage/parking available onsite.

The beach in front of the cottage is suitable for fishing, however more success is acheived from fishing off the Opossum Bay Jetty which is a 5 minute walk South. A good boat ramp is located next to the jetty ( 2 minute drive ) with a number of fishing options . There is space at street level to park a boat trailer.

Golf

Golf course located nearby.

The South Arm RSL has a full golf course with clubrooms, restaurant and bar facilites; which is 7 km south of the cottage. Casuals are welcome.

Heritage Trail

The "Arm End" trail is a pleasant, reasonably easy and popular walk. It features coastal views, grassy plains, and aboriginal history. The trail is accessed ( free) a 10min walk North from the cottage. There are also walking tracks to "Goats Bluff", "Ralphs Bay".

Indigenous Experiences

Ten minutes wallk North from the cottage is "Arm End" which is a large State Reserve that has Aboriginal history and several Aboriginal middens.

Waterfront

Absolute waterfront, Boats can moor at waterfront, Expansive water views.

The cottage overlook Opossum Bay Beach and is 2 metres from the beach. The position is stunning.There is mooring access at the Opossum Bay Jetty 400m away, and moorings in front of the cottage.

Windsurfing/Kitesailing

Windsurfing and/or kitesailing available on site, Popular windsurfing and/or kitesailing spots nearby, Windsurfing/kitesailing storage available onsite.

It is easy to windsurf directly in front of the cottage. There are a number of nearby beaches that offer all levels of challenge ( goats, lauderdale, southarm ). There is storage space in the garage at atreet level.

Winter Holiday

Whether winter or summer the views across the river derwent while warm inside are a great escape. There are 2 electric heaters and electric blanket on tthe master bedroom.
