Locality

Dumas House is located in Mount Barker, which is the heart of the Adelaide Hills. With so much to do nearby it is a great central base to take day trips to the many tourist attractions and then unwind in the pool or spa at the end of the day to reminisce over the spectacular day's outings. Attractions such as the many cool climate vineyards and orchards which dominate the Adelaide hills.

Historic Hahndorf and its charming historic shops and pubs all specialising in the fresh local produce. Visit the pristine beaches and surf of nearby Victor Harbour, taking in the famous horse-drawn carriage ride across to Granite Island and view the graceful whales when passing through on their travels south.

Or catch a ride on the historic Cockle Train as it steams its way along the coast from Goolwa to Victor Harbour. Perhaps the breathtaking views of the red cliffs lining the majestic Murray River and wetlands, casting a fantastic reflection of the wildlife and surroundings, is more your style - watched from the deck of a historic paddle steamer.

Try the lush vineyards and cellar door sales of the famous Barossa Valley, with such a large range of vineyards to choose from you are guaranteed to find something to your taste.

Or maybe it's the many festivals and world class events held in Adelaide which may take your fancy such as the Clipsal 500 car race, Jacobs Creek Tour Downunder bike race or just one of the many music festivals which are held in the 'city of churches'. With so many things to do and all within an hour's drive from Dumas House it makes for a great base from which to explore.
