Bed & Breakfast, Farm stays

Spend time on Nelgai checking out the cattle and wildlife or relaxing on the verandah soaking up the bush atmosphere. Great for birdwatching,bush walking, photography and painting. Home cooking using mainly local and native produce. Try our wild lilme cordial and ice cream and tea out of the 'fastest quartpot in the west' with damper under a coolibah on the edge of the billabong. Queen room with ensuite and twin with own bathroom

In a wet season the waterfowl on the lagoon can rival Kakadu. The lagoon was refilled again this summer.

If we have a booking with a child we do not book the other room without enquiring if the guests mind children. If guests ask for no children we will not take another booking with children at the same time.
We are more suited for adults than children.

Priscilla is an artist and is happy to help to anyone who wishes to sketch or paint on Nelgai and learn from her guests. She is a member of the Miles and District Art Group, on the Dogwood Crossing, Miles, Art Gallery committee and the Myall Park Botanic Garden Gallery committee. Every November/December there is the Craft+Design=Art exhibition in Miles plus Christmas craft stallls. Priscilla is having a joint exhibition at the DX 6.6.10 - 27.7.10 called "An affair with the brush and a bottle of red!" You can see some of Priscilla's previous art on www.nelgai.com/art

Birdwatching

Our large lagoon can be a haven for wildfowl and we have been told it can be better than Kakadu as you can get closer. There are about 300 species of birds in this region so there is always something to see. The lagoon has recently been refilled which is great for the wildlife.

Bushwalking & wilderness

Being a cattle property there are walks and semi wilderness. We inform people where they may or may not bush walk and can provide maps or accompany them. It is a lovely walk to our large lagoon.

Dinner, Bed and Breakfast

In-house evening meals available, Set menu, Full cooked breakfast, Packed lunches available.

The evening meal on request is a set menu of 2 or 3 courses depending on the guests preference. (3rd course extra cost) Dietary problems are taken into account if informed. We try and use only local or homegrown produce. A complimentary glass of wine is given with dinner.
Guests may choose the night before what they wish for breakfast.

Family Friendly

Portacot available, Plastic crockery and cutlery available for children, Games/videos for children under 5 available, Games/videos for children between 5 and 12 available, Games/videos for children over 12 available, Kids meal options available.

Our new outdoor area is guazed and child friendly. There is no outside fence and a dam is nearby so all children MUST be supervised by carer. Being a farm there are plenty of hazards. We have many games, books and a few DVDs for children. We also have a highchair and pram.

Farmland Experiences

Farm animals live on the property, Cattle, Horses, Dogs, Guests able to interact with the farm animals, Working farm with some limits on guest access to animals.

Even though we are farm stay we are more suited for adults who desire a passive holiday as we do not have enough animals etc for children to play with but they are welcome. We have horses but they are not available to ride nor are motorbiles. Access to animals is dependant on the temperment of the animals and what is going on. We also grow crops.Try Picnics and BBQ by the lagoon using campovens and quartpots.

Nelgai is 15 minutes from Condamine home of the Condamine Bell and other historic site. 1/2 hour from the well known Miles Historical Village of which David is Patron and the art gallery at Dogwood Crossing Miles. 50 minutes from Myall Park Botanic Garden and Gallery, Chinchilla Museum. 11/2hrs to Cobb & Co Changing station and Roma. David has an excellent knowlege of all things local and "australiana"

Pet friendly

Cats are permitted, Small dogs (less than 11 kg) are permitted, Medium dogs (11 kg to less than 34 kg) are permitted, Large dogs (34 kg or heavier) are permitted, Pets are permitted outside only, Other domesticated animals reside at the property.

We allow pets if the owners agree that their pets have to be tied or caged at all times due to the close proximity of cattle and horses on our property and neighbouring stud properties. We have found that it is easiet for the guests with pets to book our twin room so their pets can sleep on the well covered verandah adjoining the bedroom
