Wildwood, built by the Bury family in 1873 has remained with the family ever since.It has a large country kitchen,overlooking the old garden which has 2 barbicues with wood or gas provided. The front verandah looks across the lawn, through the old palms to Bancroft Bay below and across the water to the Metung Village. An open fire place in the sitting room provides extra comfort during cold nights. Wood is provided.

The walk down to the beach, showed the path but we were given information of the history of the site as well. In addition I was given the opportunity to read the history of Metung and it gave me further information of the whole area."
LocalityWildwood is within easy reach of the Metung Village and Lakes Entrance which is about a15 minute drive. It is the entrance to the Gippsland Lakes and has a footbridge across the arm to allow access to the famous 90 mile ocean beach. The metung village has fine restaurants, cafes,boat and bicycle hire, a village store, hotel, bakery, information centre, chemist, post office, gift shops, yachting, bowling and R.S.L. and golf clubs etc. From the wharf, skippered day trips on passenger ferries can be taken. Golf and tennis and picturesque walks are also available. Good fishing from the board walk and a safe swimming beach.
