Relax in gorgeous, romantic country cottages at Margate, just twenty minutes south of Hobart. Here at Margate Cottage Boutique Bed and Breakfast couples have a choice of two luxury accommodation cottages; Garden Cottage and Hillcroft Retreat both offer stylish comfort and excellent amenities with superior quality fixtures and furnishings. Immaculately maintained each spacious cottage with its furnished verandah, is set in different parts of the beautiful gardens so your privacy is assured, yet from every window they have amazing views of forest clad hills and valleys to the huge impressive mountains beyond. After a warm welcome, stepping inside your spacious cottage there's plump lounge chairs, TV, a cosy opti-flame log heater, tea/coffee making facilities and fridge, crockery and cutlery and vases of fresh flowers. Both cottages feature comfy queen size beds with electric blanket and snug feather doona, a heated immaculate-bathroom with modern amenities, assorted luxuries and a large walk-in shower (Garden Cottage also has a claw-foot bath).
Enjoy your continental breakfast in the privacy of your own room or balcony while taking in the beautiful garden and mountain views.

Locality

Margate Cottage Boutique B&B luxury cottage accommodation is in an idyllic rural location on the fringe of Margate, a small seaside town 20 minutes south of Hobart and 35 minutes from Hobart airport. Margate Township has a range of shops, award winning restaurants and wineries, cafes, hotel, bottle-shop, service station and service amenities as well as several notable tourist attractions.
Hobart’s many attractions are nearby and there’s no shortage of day-trip excursions within easy reach. It is easy to find us and our central and quiet location between Margate on Channel Highway and Sandfly on Huon Highway is perfect, giving easy access to many popular tourist attractions such as Tahune Forest Airwalk, Hastings Caves, Ida Bay Railway and Huon Jet Boating in the Huon Valley. Via the Channel Highway there’s waterfront hamlets and sandy beaches, Bruny Island and perhaps an award-winning eco-cruise, Peppermint Bay water-front dining, a sheep cheesery at Woodbridge and Cygnet an alternative-lifestyle-town famous for its artists and quirky cafes, for you to explore. This region boasts spectacular scenery from incredible coastline to wilderness forests. There are artist’s studios, open gardens and museums for you to discover. Diverse produce such as Atlantic salmon, oysters, organic mushrooms, berries, stone fruits and apples, cool climate wines can be sampled or purchased at the farm-gate stalls, acclaimed restaurants and award winning wineries as you explore the region.

Margate Cottage Boutique Bed & Breakfasts’ luxury cottages are nestled into 2 acres of rambling cottage gardens and surrounded by forest-clad hills and valleys with huge impressive mountains beyond. Many years ago the property was an apple and pears orchard, how-ever now days that has been replaced with lush pasture for a few lazy cows. This pasture also makes a fine feed for wallabies and other native wildlife as the nights draw in. There is a strand of century old poplar trees standing impressive guard beside the heritage barn on the western border. North West Bay River makes its way thru our valley at the bottom of our property from Mt. Wellington to the sea at Margate. Its here at the banks of this pristine river you may well be lucky enough to spot platypus and native trout. There is an abundance of birds living in the garden from the tiny Blue Wrens, Red Robins, Green Parrots, Honeyeaters and Finches. Birds of prey such as the Grey Goshawk and a family of Wedge Tail eagles are regularly seen over-head.
In the cool-climate garden there are drifts of colorful bulbs and fruit trees laden with blossom in the spring. Roses, irises, lavenders, fuchsias, lupins, hollyhocks and perennials-alike make a wonderful summer display. A kaleidoscope of color from the deciduous trees heralds the autumn and in mid-winter the drifts of hellebores and French lavender are delightful. Naturally there is an organic veggie garden, a berry patch, herbs and fruit trees for providing fresh produce.
