Bed & Breakfast

This beautiful 2 storey Georgian-Victorian building began life in the 1830's as a licensed public inn. In 1870 it was converted into a family home, closing its doors to the public. Renovations in the 1980's saw the name Red Lion Inn reintroduced when the building operated as a restaurant.

Now seeing in her third century, the Red Lion Inn is our family home. Furnished with period pieces we invite you to stay, relax and unwind enjoying the modern conveniences today's traveller expects, while being surrounded by the charm and character of a time since passed.

Upstairs are the four queen sized bedrooms, two modern, shared bathrooms plus a sitting room leading to front verandah. The sitting room offers tv, dvd, refrigerator, tea and coffee making facilities plus local tourist information, so you can comfortably plan your activities during your stay. We have an extensive DVD library, books and magazines to help while away the hours.

In winter, warm in front of an open fire. Sit and relax on either the front or back verandahs. Do as little or as much as you like.

You can either enjoy your breakfast on the back verandah looking onto the garden or sit inside, in the formal dining room.

Locality

Adjacent to East Maitland Bowls Club.
If you want to relax with a round of golf, a courtesy bus operates from the Bowls Club, taking you to East Maitland Golf Club.

Only a ten minute drive away is the historic town of Morpeth. You can indulge in some retail therapy at the boutiques, hunt for antiques and collector treasures or just have a coffee with fresh scone.

Both Maitland and East Maitland have heritage trail's that you can walk. Many beautiful buildings can be seen that you can't appreciate the detail of by just driving by.
