Immaculately presented, The Mango Shack offers a fully self-contained, 2 bedroom unit. There is a living room with DVD and widescreen TV with a small selection of DVD's. It has a kitchen and dining area with a small reading area off to the side with games and books to enjoy. The main bedroom has a queen bed with storage facilities. The 2nd bedroom has 2 single beds with storage facilities. There is a toilet and shower. There is an unfenced garden with outdoor furniture with fruit trees in the garden which guests can help themselves to when the fruit is in season.

Locality

The Mango Shack is a 5 minute walk from the ferry terminals, Spar supermarket, The Blue Parrot Restaurant, Library (opened on Tues and Sat mornings), Macleay Island pub (meals available), Chemist, Australia Post Office (with Commonwealth bank, Nab bank and Westpak bank facilities), Internet facilities, Macleay Island Tourist Information and Doctor surgery (accross from Library). It is a 5 minute drive to the golf course. It is approximately a 10 minute walk to the Foodworks supermarket where you will find a hairdresser, pizzeria (with home delivery), bakers, op shop and boat shop. Further up the island (approx. 2.5 km) there is the Emerald Isle shopping centre with a DVD shop, Internet facilities (with Bendigo bank), fish and chip shop, pet shop and hairdressers.

The passenger ferry departs from Banana St, Redland Bay and the car ferry from Weinam St, Redland Bay. The terminals can be reached by bus from Brisbane City.

Alternatively you can island hop to other beaches. Karragarra Island comes highly recommended with BBQ facilities, safety nets, toilets and play area. Karragarra is located directly accross from Macleay Island ferry terminal and takes 5 min. Island hopping costs $1.60 adult and $0.80 cents child.
