Location

The Stumps and its surroundings offer a variety of activities. The nature enthusiast will find many secluded and beautiful spots to discover an abundance of wildlife in an unspoiled landscape.

Macclesfield is a small rural town in the leafy Adelaide Hills of South Australia. You can drive to Macclesfield on the beautiful Angus River Scenic Drive (route B33). It takes about 45 minutes from the city of Adelaide. Macclesfield is the ideal gateway for day trips to the Fleurieu Peninsula and a central point to discover the Adelaide Hills, Langorn Creek and McLaren wine regions.

Macclesfield is well known for its historic buildings and old village feeling. Home to the historic Three Brothers Arms Hotel, the town was well known to many travellers as it was the first coach stop on the route to Melbourne providing food and shelter to many. Visit the historic hotel and you can soak up the atmosphere, enjoy a meal and a drink while casting your eye over the century old relics.

There are many other original buildings exhibiting early century stone architecture that you can discover as you wander through the town.

The Adelaide Hills are well know as a distinctive wine region and is home to many boutique wineries. Experience this unique wine region by visiting the Cellar Doors, Tasting the new and old style varieties grown in this region

The Adelaide Hills also offer a variety of country markets, art galleries, coffee shops and craft exhibitions. It's the place for romantic weekends away, cosy pub meals, scenic drives and nature walks and forms the gateway to the Fleurieu Peninsula.
