Cottage, Holiday house, Health retreat

This is totally self catering and isolated although Hastings Caves and hot springs are about 8 k, the Southport Tavern and shop and beach approx 9ks.The historic railway 4 k. Dover is the nearest town for shopping.
To get there go south from Hobart and through the beautiful Huon valley, through Dover. Lune River is reputed to have the furthest south telephone box in Australia. A 4 wheel drive is not necessary to access the ptoperty.

This is primarily our family holiday house and is only available when the family are not there. Plenty of notice can usually secure the house for the right people who appreciate the eco environment.

Locality

This is not for those persons who need shops. This is quiet at its best. Listen for the fish jumping in the river, the birds , the wallaby and small wild animals. This is reputedly one of the cleanest rivers in the world. Sit by an open fire or on the jetty. Some people even prefer the place when it is cold and rainy.
The area was once a thriving town and old burnt chimneys and ancient cars from the huge 1960s bush fires. The old railway is functioning for tourists.You can also swim at Hastings hot spring baths, which they say are very good for you,

Property

You will notice a plaque over the door.
It will show that the house is over 100 years old but could be older. An old mill, then the mill managers house and shop. You are likely to find very old bottles from long ago. It was also an artists colony as seen by the work on the chimey breast Because the property is absolute waterfront please watch your children carefully.

The house is situated on Lune river some have noted as the cleanest river in the world.
The isolation of the property and the fact that it is on the edge of the world heritage wilderness provides a pristine environment. We suggest at least three days to recover from city stress.
