Surrounded by hundred year old Stone Pines and within walking distance to the Otway Forest Park, the cottage offers old world charm with modern amenities.
The timber kitchen has a gas stove & oven, microwave, fridge, electric frying pan, sandwich maker, tea & coffee making facilities with teapot & coffee plunger, and a wonderful wood combustion stove that will have you wanting to cook a delicious roast!
For the romantics, set the scene with an open fire in the lounge room, fluffy white robes & scented candles or share a bubble bath in the heritage bathroom, & look through the skylight at the stars above. Take the picnic basket & rug, & find a secluded spot in the beautiful Otway Forest.
Laze the day away in the hammock, or read a classic novel, as you enjoy the peace & quiet in the scented cottage garden.

Relax out on the verandah on the comfortable outdoor setting whilst cooking a BBQ, & enjoy the rural views overlooking the yabby dam & Otway Forest, whilst you enjoy a local bottle of wine with your complimentary chocolates.

The children will be amused in the playground, & will delight in collecting fresh eggs from our free range chickens, or feeding our cows & emus.
Beach games, buckets & spades are available for those sunny beach days & we have children's games & DVDs for those rainy indoor days.
Borrow the 2 tennis racquets & play a game of tennis at the local courts just 800 meters down the road, or play a round of golf using our golf clubs, buggy & balls at any of the surrounding golf courses at Winchelsea (10 minutes away), Lorne (25 minutes away), or Anglesea, (35 minutes).

Try your hand at catching some yabbies, or borrow the fishing rods & tackle & try your luck in the local rivers or Surf Coast beaches.

Only 25 minutes to Lorne and surrounding attractions, take a day trip around the Great Ocean Road, and experience it's rugged beauty and spectacular scenery. Up to date visitor information & maps are on hand for your convenience.

Close to local wineries, great cafes & excellent restaurants, your taste buds will be truly tantalized! Berry picking, horse riding, fishing or canoeing are all only a short drive away. Bush walking starts at your backdoor, with the Otway Forest Park adjoining our property. Explore the walking tracks & discover the beautiful wildflowers and native wildlife of our region. The bush is a bird watchers paradise! Pack a picnic & take the bikes for a leisurely ride around the scenic back roads, & breathe the fresh country air. Play some tennis, or a round of golf, or just laze around in the hammock, enjoying a good book & the quiet peaceful atmosphere of rural life in Bambra. Take a scenic drive around the Great Ocean Road & discover some of the most magnificent surf beaches, forests & waterfalls. A drive inland will take you to the picturesque towns of Birregurra & Winchelsea, where you will find antiques, gift shops, tearooms & galleries. Drive through rainforests to find the Otway Fly Tree Top Walk, & discover the beauty of Lake Elizabeth, West Barwon Dam, and the township of Forest.

The cottage is situated on our 10 acre block which abutts the Otway Forest Park, offering long bushwalks and wildlife sightings.

Birdwatching

As the cottage is located adjacent to the Otway Forest Park, we get an abundance of native birds, ranging from the tiny scrub & fairy wrens, tree creepers, scarlet robins & honeyeaters, to the larger king parrots, pink galahs, sulphur crested cockatoos and the larger yellow tailed cockatoos, who can often be found eating the pine nuts, high in the Stone Pine trees surrounding the cottage.
The king parrots will often come for a feed of bird seed, and are so tame, they will eat out of your hand.
The majestic Wedge Tailed Eagles are often sighted gliding above the forest during the day on the wind currents, & at times we are lucky enough to have a nesting pair with baby chicks in a secret hiding place in the forest.
Information & photos of all of these beautiful native birds can be found in the cottage, and bird watching tours can be arranged through 'Go Birding' Tours.

Canoes & Kayaks can be hired around the Surf coast at Torquay, Anglesea, Lorne & Apollo Bay. We can organize tours, or you may choose to bring your own kayak/canoe. There are many places to explore our tranquil inland rivers, including the Barwon River in Winchelsea & the beautiful Leigh River in Inverleigh. For those more adventurous types, the sea awaits you at Lorne, where you can learn how to sea kayak with 'Go Ride A Wave' tours.

Bambra Cottage provides you with 2 fishing rods & fishing tackle free of charge. Information on fishing locations, both freshwater & saltwater are available in the cottage, as well as tide times and the latest fishing guides detailing bag limits & fish identification & sizes. Fishing licenses can be bought at the Lorne Visitor Information Centre.
There is ample room to accommodate a boat onsite. Boats can be parked undercover in the carport. Maps showing boat ramps around the Surf coast are available in the cottage.
