Cottage, Holiday house

Fossickers Cottages are two fully self-contained cottages in the heart of Lightning Ridge.

Opal Cottage is a cute one bedroom cottage overlooking the old town opal fields with a view to the west for the some of most beautiful sunsets you might ever see. Opal Cottage is set off by an eccentric garden established over twenty years ago.

Harlequin Cottage was built over thirty years ago as a four-room miners hut. It has grown over time, into a cosy and comfortable two-bedroom cottage. A large, fenced, front yard makes a great play area for kids and pets of all ages.

Fossickers Cottages, in the centre of Lightning Ridge, where there so many things to do you might want to stay for a week.

Locality

Lightning Ridge is famous for its stunning Black Opal which, contrary to what its name might suggest - displays an amazing range of incredible colours and patterns. Visit Lost Sea Opals to buy yourself a fabulous piece of Black Opal it is the most magical and mystifying of the precious gems. While you are there examine the opalised fossils from the age of the dinosaurs.

Relax in Lightning Ridges' hot Artesian Baths, famous for their soothing mineral rich waters. Take a stroll underground in the old opal diggings the Walk-In-Mine or the Black Hand. Do a self-drive tour or take a guided tour of the town.

Experience the working opal fields at the Grawin, Glengarry and Sheepyard fields. Try your luck at fossicking for black opal in the designated fosssicking areas.

Take a trip to “Colli” and try fishing for 'yellow belly’ in the Barwon. Have a barbecue picnic. Look out for the vast array of wildlife and birds that abound around the north-western river system.

Or simply sit back, unwind and treasure the relaxing atmosphere of your private gardens at either one of Fossickers Cottages. (Bird seed available if you wish to attract some of the many native birds).

Lightning Ridge has interesting galleries, cafes, restaurants and pubs to experience. Plus excellent specialty shops with an exciting range of quality jewellery and gifts.
