Holiday house

3 bedroom 1 bathroom house which sleeps 6 (7 if portacot used). Queen sized bed and 4 singles. Open plan kitchen/living/dining room overlooks and opens onto paved, fenced area enclosing solar heated pool. Separate covered outdoor BBQ area with table and chairs. Separate laundry and clothesline

Locality

Lauderdale is bordered by the Ralphs Bay Conservation Area which is part of the River Derwent on one side, and Frederick Henry Bay on the other.
Nearby are shops selling supermarket items, high quality fruit and vegetables, an excellent deli, butcher shops, a newsagent and post office, hairdressers, bakery, church, tavern, restaurants, petrol stations, take away food shops and a chemist. The nearest Woolworths is 10 minutes drive. Numerous other beaches and picnic spots are an easy drive away. A great base for exploring south east Tasmania including Pt Arthur, Coal River Valley wineries, historic Richmond, Hobart and the beautiful east coast. 15 minutes to the airport.

Property

Bambra Reef Lodge is part of a 3 acre waterfront property at Roches Beach in Lauderdale. It has level access to the beach which forms part of Frederick Henry Bay and is ideal for children. At low tide Bambra Reef can be explored. Walks on the beach or along the cliff top path provide stunning views across the bay. The property has a solar heated outdoor pool for shared use from October to April. There is a separate games room with a 3/4 sized pool table, table tennis and darts. The large garden has a trampoline, chook pen, vegetable garden, orchard, creek, pets and various wildlife including native hens, possums and bandicoots. There is an outdoor BBQ area for exclusive use of guests of the Lodge. The living area of the lodge overlooks and opens onto the swimming pool enclosure.

Bambra Reef Lodge is part of a conjoined beachfront property. The Lodge itself doesn't have a beach view, but overlooks and opens onto the outdoor solar heated swimming pool. It's an easy 150 metre walk to Roches Beach which it is ideal for children. Bambra Reef is uncovered at low tide and is a great spot for exploring rock pools. There is a cliff top walk at the far end of the beach with beautiful views across Frederick Henry Bay

Birdwatching

The Ralphs Bay Conservation Area is renowned for its water birds. 15 minutes drive away at the north end of Clifton Beach are mutton bird rookeries which are worth a visit at dusk between November and March to see the birds returning from a day at sea to feed their chicks

Canoeing & Kayaking

Guests welcome to bring their own canoe/kayak, Located on waterfront, Less than 5 minutes walk to water, Less than 5 minutes drive to water.

The property is on the waterfront of Frederick Henry Bay which is a large relatively sheltered expanse of water suitable for canoeing or kayaking. There is adequate space to keep a kayak or canoe should guests choose to bring thire own. There is no lock up storage, but the property is 200metres from the street so outdoor storage should be safe. The property is an easy drive from numerous other beaches.

There is a regular bus service to and from Hobart and to nearby beachside villages with buses approximately every hour. The bus stop is a 5 minute walk from the entrance to the property

There are beach views from the property, but not from the Lodge itself. There is an easy 150 metre walk to the beach. The Lodge overlooks and opens onto a fenced area which encloses the solar heated pool. This is suitable for swimming in from October to April
