Locality

Araluen Park Cottages are conveniently located within easy access of Lakes Entrance and the Gippsland Lakes. They also provide an ideal base to explore the unspoilt beaches, pristine rivers and the high country areas of the region.
Alternatively, the property provides good examples of Warm Temperate Rainforest, with associated flora and fauna. A guided tour can be provided.

Property

Araluen Park Cottages are brand new having opened for business in November 2009. They have been built to a high standard to ensure optimum comfort and provide a sustainable living environment with minimal impacts on the environment. The land has been taken out of agricultural production, stock have been removed, and gullies and slopes are being restored to their original vegetation communities. All electrical energy is provided by a solar power system. An award winning waste water management system complete with sub-surface drip irrigation has been installed to minimise nutrient and phosphorus discharge levels. Household waste is segregated for recycling thereby minimising discharges to landfill. Even food scraps are collected for composting or to feed the chooks.

The cottages are located within an easy drive of the Gippsland Lakes and the Ninety Mile Beach. Also close to Lake Tyers and Lake Bunga and other pristine beaches of East Gippsland.

Warm temperate rainforest, limestone box forest and lowland forest, surrounding and within walking distance of the cottages, provide habitat for a wide range of birds. A species list has been commenced and is being added to continually. A number of threatened species, including the white bellied sea eagle and the powerful owl are regularly sighted, or heard, within proximity of the property.
