Al's Look-out is exclusive accommodation within the Atherton Tablelands. It is centrally located and consists of a high level pole house. There are two houses next door to each other; although next door to each other, they are separated by a covered walkway and each have their own private entrances, verandahs and entertainment areas. The property has been designed to provide views of the surrounding mountains, and is hidden away in a secluded area of 2.5 acres of native bushland. The accommodation is fully self contained with all amenities and is suitable for single families, couples or large groups (if both properties are booked). All rooms are equipped with ceiling fans (aircons not required in this climate).
The property has a log fire place and a balcony with a BBQ area which is a great place to observe the natural wildlife. There are 150 bird species in the immediate area. Other visitors to the front lawn are local wallabies and possums.
The Atherton Region has a large range of unique fauna and flora including the Cassowary, the Tree Kangaroo and the Amethyst Python.

Helen - Our stay was fabulous, enjoyed the whole weekend. Feeding the possums in the evenings was my highlight, cheeky rascals they love drinking red wine out of a glass, well trained little creatures. In the mornings along come the wallabies and guinea fowls, the wild life is just amazing.
You have done an excellent job with the setup of the property, each house has their own privacy and also caters for a larger group. Everything you could possibly require for a relaxing getaway.
Local Attractions
Using the lodge as your home base, some of the local attractions include.
* Local Barramundi and red claw fishing in the lake or if your prefer watersports, skiing, yachting, windsufing and boating.
* 30 minutes drive you can visit Lakes Eacham and Barrine, Yungaburra, Mt Uncle Winery, Golden Drop Distillery, Curtain Fig Tree and the local coffee plantations.
* Should you wish to venture further you can take in Ravenshoe, many local waterfalls including the Barron Falls, Kuranda Skyrail and scenic railway, butterfly sanctuary and the Kuranda markets.
* For longer distances of over 60 minutes you can visit Cairns and the Barrier Reef, Innisfail, Paronella Park and the Undara Lava Tubes.
About Atherton
Atherton Shire is located on rich red volcanic soil on the Atherton Tablelands (also known as Cairns Highlands) and has an abundance of natural attractions and beauty such as waterfalls, scenic views, walking tracks, rainforest, native animals, and prime agricultural land growing fruit and vegetables such as peanuts, maize, corn, potatoes, avocados, mangos, lychees, macadamia nuts, and dairy and beef cattle.
If you enjoy towns that have retained that country charm of yesteryear but have modern facilities and technology, then Atherton Shire is a must on your travel itinerary, as all the towns of the Shire - Atherton, Tolga, Kairi, and Tinaroo - contribute to make this a special characteristic of Atherton Shire.
Bus services operate daily from Cairns to the Atherton Tablelands and Highlands.
You will enjoy the tropical climate that the Atherton Tablelands/Cairns Highlands is renown for - pleasant temperatures ranging between 17°C and 25°C, September to June and between 5°C and 14°C from July to August, cool summer nights and mild, sunny winter days without the high humidity experienced in coastal areas
