Casa Luna is a purpose-built architect-designed accommodation house in a modern Australian style, set on a hill overlooking a beautiful intimate valley.

Stylishly decorated rooms, with every comfort provided - pure cotton sheets, fluffy towels, waffle-weave bathrobes, LCD TV, DVD player with eclectic library of DVDs, reverse cycle heating/ cooling, bar fridge, plunger coffee and Twinings tea, pure rain water, crisp almond bread.

In a separate wing, just across the patio, is the guest lounge/dining room for reading, playing cards or chess, relaxing by the open fire. Breakfast is served here, or on the patio if you prefer. Food is a highlight at Casa Luna, with wine-matched dinners a specialty. Local produce is featured, and the style of food served reflects our love of Italy. The Italians say "At table you never grow old"

Gourmet breakfasts and Italian- influenced food is a feature, cooked by your host, who was a caterer in Melbourne, before embracing this wonderful food and wine region. Locally roasted espresso coffee and produce, as well as local King Valley wines are showcased.

Service is attentive and friendly, but unobtrusive.

The cellar door experience in the King Valley is unique and intimate - you will meet the families who grow the grapes and make the wine. Many of them are Italian, and they specialise in Italian varieties. The area is rich with good restaurants, some featuring Italian food, and all cooking with local produce, such as Welsh Black beef, saltbush lamb, free range pork, olives and olive oil, etc. Activities other than food and wine include walks, playing petanque, bike riding, motor cycling, touring, Ned Kelly site tours, snow skiing, white water rafting, etc.

Festivals - La Dolce Vita festival in November, Weekend Fit for a King in June, The Shed Show in October (where the public vote for their favourite King Valley wine), Wangaratta Jazz Festival in Oct/Nov.

Locality

Casa Luna is located in the exciting, uniquely diverse King Valley wine region. This region features Italian varietals, as well as the usual Australian varieties. Brown Brothers Winery in the lower King Valley have been innovators and leaders in the establishment of this region. The upper King is home to many cellar doors, such as Pizzini Wines, Dalzotto, Chrismont, Politini, to name a few.

The cellar door experience in this region is special and personal - the staff are mostly family, and the wine maker is invariably nearby.

The Milawa Gourmet region is 15 minutes away. Sample cheeses from The Milawa Cheese Factory, as well as local oils at the Milawa Olive Shop. Try Milawa Mustards, and olives and oils at EV Olives. Other local products available are apples and juices, nuts, smallgoods, jams and chutneys, chocolates and icecream.

Property

Casa Luna Gourmet Accommodation was nominated as a finalist in The Australian Travel and Tourism Awards in 2006, in the Hosted Accommodation catergory. This is a huge honour for a relatively new establishment, and we are very proud of such an achievement. Pet owners are responsible for cleaning up after their pets, and ensuring their pets don't infringe on other guests' enjoyment of Casa Luna. In the unlikely event of any damage caused by pets, their owners are responsible for any relevant expenses.
Horses have a 35 acre fenced paddock to enjoy, with ample feed and water

Rates include a full gourmet breakfast freshly cooked for you in the stunning glass-walled dining room, on the patio, or in the privacy of your suite. Minimum stays apply on holiday weekends. Stays over three nights may attract a package price. Dinner, bed and breakfast package available at all times, at $395.00 for 2, offering 5 course degustation dinner with local wines matched to every course, plus accommodation and full breakfast. Other packages including tours, wine tastings, picnic hampers, Swanpool Cinema tickets, etc., also available.
