School Holiday Activities

Are you ready for the school holidays?  Whether you're staying home or heading off, check out www.kidspot.com.au for heaps of great ideas, places to go, camps, art classes, sporting activities and more. Here are a few of Kidspot's favourites:

Sydney: the World Cup has everyone soccer mad so why not send the kids to the Sydney Soccer Football Academy Soccer Camps?  Starts July 3rd.  Learn more here: http://www.sydneysfa.com.au/camps.htm

Melbourne:  Most kids love painting, drawing, sculpting and it's so much nicer away from home! Art Encounters run great programs every school holidays with 2 sessions per day to choose from plus FREE lunch.  Details here: http://www.artencounters.com.au/activities-school.php

Brisbane: What child wouldn't want to try their hand at driving a big, rumbling train on a simulator? Take them to the Workshops Rail Museum in North Ipswich for a great afternoon.  More: http://www.kidspot.com.au/search-kidspot.asp?d=59405977537A700B0303070C&hideheader=true

Adelaide: Something different! July 18-21st, Norwood. A wonderful production already enjoyed by over 45,000 children (best suited to 4-8 year olds): THE BOY and the BAMBOO FLUTE Inspired by the folklore and cultural traditions of Vietnam - drama, martial arts, mime, music and dance meld in this epic adventure story about a peasant boy and a princess.

Perth: Kids love the feeding of the penguins at the Perth Zoo daily at 11:30am and it's a great excuse to get out of the house! http://www.perthzoo.wa.gov.au/info_general.html

Canberra: Everyone loves Pamela Allen's books and now there's one on stage! Patch Theatre Company's Who Sank the Boat? is a wondrous, theatrical story-fest, adapted from eight of Pamela Allen’s most-loved books, using a host of inventive theatrics, incorporating puppetry, operetta, mime, dance and live music: http://www.rvib.org.au/info.aspx?page=828&event=69

Tasmania: The State Library of Tasmania has introduced great kids programs and things to do! Plenty of activities planned during the holidays at the local library and it's FREE: http://www.statelibrary.tas.gov.au/whatdo/services/children/kidzone/todo
