Locality

Only 15 minutes from the River Port of Goolwa, a stay at Mundoo Channel can be relaxing (reading/fishing) or as extreme(Kite Surfing/Wake Boarding) as you like. For those who love the finer things in life, the South Coast and Fleurieu Peninsula provide a relaxing opportunity to browse old-world antique and craft markets. Nearby, wine regions of Currency Creek and Langhorne Creek are a must for connoisseurs along with a visit to Angus Wines within easy driving distance. Not to mention the amazing abundance of birdlife and occasional Seal or Dolphin you may come across while cruising the Coorong. Canoeing & Kayaking

Guests welcome to bring their own canoe/kayak, Located on waterfront, Less than 5 minutes walk to water, Less than 5 minutes drive to water.

Ideal for Canoeing/kayaking right out the front of the shack, in fact there are several tour groups that take groups out from the beach next to the property and they head around to the Coorong for day trips or camp overnight on the Coorong National park (permit required)

Wake boarding / water skiing

Boat ramp onsite, Boat ramp within 5 minute drive, Parking for boats available.

There is a 10knot limit for motor boats in the Mundoo Channel out the front of the property, but about a 10minute boat trip around to the Sand dunes on the Coorong offers one of the most scenic Water Skiing destinations in SA, this is ideal for families, as you just pull up easily on an area of beach the deep channel around there allows you to usually get the nose of the boat on dry beach while the rear of the boat can sometimes still be in several feet of water, this also makes ideal for launch and landing of skiers the kids will love the sand dunes and they also offer very good protection from the wind, and when you’re done it’s a 10 minute boat trip back to the shack, where most of the other boats you will see out there have about a 20 minute trip back to the public boat ramp that can be busy during the holiday periods.

Windsurfing/Kitesailing

Windsurfing and/or kitesailing available on site, Popular windsurfing and/or kitesailing spots nearby, Windsurfing/kitesailing storage available onsite.

This is a great place to Windsurf straight off the beach in front of the property, especially for learners or intermediate, we have had many guests over the years stay here that have learnt to Windsurf or use the area to brush up on their skills, it is not the ideal location for experienced Windsurfers, due to the channel being fairly narrow with majority of the channel being very shallow with soft coral formations scattered across it, however this is what makes it ideal for learning as majority of the channel is only waist deep and the patches of coral if you do tread on it is very soft. A great run that I usually do is head up the channel and out onto the Coorong with much larger open waters and good steady breeze, this is a great way to take in the scenery of the picturesque surrounding area and it’s not uncommon to see the odd seal or dolphin on the journey. When the tide is high in the channel you can have very good length runs right out the front of the shack and quite often will have the whole place to yourself and with very good steady breeze. The wind is also very predictable here being normally very light winds early morning up until mid to late afternoon when it picks up and can easily go from about 5-10 knots to 20-25knots. I wouldn't recommend Kite Surfing out the front in the channel, as this is the main route to the Coorong and does at times have a steady stream of traffic, there is however a few locations popular for kite surfing just 10minutes walk away out the front gate heading towards the Murray Mouth. Also there is very popular fresh water run located near the Aqua Café in Goolwa about a 15minute drive from the shack with very nice lawn area to setup.
