Holiday house

The retreat is nature based and ideal for relaxation - the peaceful privacy here is perfect.

Creek Valley Rainforest Retreat in the Hinchinbrook Shire is bordered by a pristine mountain-born rainforest stream with refreshing rock pools.

The retreat is totally secluded, yet only a 20 minute drive north of Ingham, a well supplied town with a strong Italian influence.

The only sounds you will hear in our valley are those from wildlife and the running creek. The creek provides critical habitat for the Mahogany Glider and the Southern Cassowary.

All rooms open on to a spacious living area with comfortable sofas and a dining table. A 4-meter wide, screened bi-fold door connects the living with a large shady veranda featuring a second 8-chair table setting.

Downstairs, beside the laundry, you will find a third toilet and an outdoor shower.

Laundry facilities (front loader and dryer) are only accessible for stays longer than 3 nights.

A fully equipped gourmet kitchen, including a gas cook top, a convection microwave oven, an espresso machine, double-filtered water and a dishwasher, is complemented with a hooded gas barbecue and a fixed campfire with plate and grill.

"Going bush with all the mod-cons"
"You can feel and smell the serinity as soon as you pass the gate. Cheers to a wonderful weekend in our own valley."
"This is pure-unadultered paradise: Huis, pondok - hierdie is 'n lekker plek"
"Loved the fresh air, the mountains, the creek, the birds, what a great place to recharge"
"Shh - hear the birds; shh - can you hear the creek? Shh - the fire's popping; shh - fireflies everywhere; shh, don't tell anyone else ... a quiet private place"

Locality

Creek Valley Rainforest Retreat is at the foot of Mt Gardiner in the Cardwell range, 1.5 hours north of Townsville by road, just past Ingham, upstream of Arnot Creek.

The nearby Hinchinbrook Channel is known as a fishing mecca, the restored Tyto Wetlands form a birdwatchers paradise and the historic Dalrymple Gap Track is a must for hikers.

The region also claims the world’s highest single drop waterfall in Wallaman Falls and the longest jetty (for raw sugar) at Lucinda. Forrest Beach and Taylors Beach provide sandy shores and shady playgrounds.

Hinchinbrook Shire

There are nine walking tracks in the vicinity of our Retreat, ranging from a few hundred metres to 10 km. Destinations range from blue tinged rock pools and sedgeland swamps to an ancient volcano.

Hinchinbrook Island is one of the world's most diversely beautiful wilderness areas. Visitors to Hinchinbrook can choose from hiking through the unspoiled rainforest, relaxing on a secluded beach or merely capturing (or catching) the islands splendour from the comfort of a vessel whilst cruising through the magnificent Channel.

Sites worth a visit are heritage buildings from the early years of the previous century, Italian architecture on a cemetery, and the Pub with No Beer.
