Locality

Ocean Dreaming is situated 2 minutes stroll from a beautiful surfing and fishing beach and right next to a rainforest reserve at Hallidays Point, 20 minutes north of Forster and 20 minutes south of Taree.

Many attractions, such as swimming, surfing, beach, lake and river fishing, dolphin and whale watching, golf, bushwalking, 4WD tours and much more are available either in walking distance or within a short drive.

Property

Ocean Dreaming offers two clean, comfortable and well equipped self contained apartments a two minute stroll from Black Head Beach, and an eight minute walk along a rainforest track to very secluded Shelly Beach. The adjacent reserves help provide a particularly diverse range of birds that can be readily watched from the garden patio of each apartment.

Ocean Dreaming is located 150 metres from beautiful Black Head Beach, and 8 minutes stroll through the adjacent rainforest reserve to secluded Shelly Beach. Black Head Beach is patrolled at the Black Head end in summer hokidays and weekends. There is a 30 metre ocean pool at Black Head.

Birdwatching

A large range of birds can be watched from the property, beaches and adjacent rainforest reserve. A recent visit from a local birdwatching group identified over 100 species in the Hallidays Point area, including regent bower bird, satin bower bird, brush turkey, catbird, rainbow lorikeet, eastern spinebill, whipbird, superb blue wren, white bellied sea eagle, brahminy kite, and many more.....

Bushwalking & wilderness

We provide walking track booklets for the tracks through the adjacent rainforest reserves, and can sometimes provide guided walks on request. National Parks nearby include Khappinghat Nature Reserve (10 minutes), Booti Booti NP (40 minutes), Saltwater National Park (45 minutes) and Barrington NP (90 minutes).

Canoeing & Kayaking

Guests welcome to bring their own canoe/kayak, Less than 5 minutes walk to water.

There are many opportunities for great canoeing and kayaking experiences nearby. These include sea kayaking off the beach (nearest beach 150 metres), canoeing and kayaking on numerous lakes, creeks and rivers within half an hour's drive, and white water kayaking on the Gloucester and Barrington Rivers (1.5 to 2 hours drive).

Ocean Dreaming is partly solar powered and uses rain water for washing machines and garden watering. There often organic vegies for guests' use. Composting and recycling are practiced. We work on a variety of rainforest regeneration projects in the adjacent littoral (coastal) rainforest reserves. Guided walks through the adjacent rainforest can often be arranged on request.

Family Friendly

Children (up to 2 per unit) are welcome, but please note that the units are only one bedroom. Unit 1 has a sofa bed in the lounge room area, and Unit 2 has a king single bed and a sofa bed in the lounge room area.

Fishing

Located less than 5 minute drive to water, Boatramp within 5 minute drive, Boat hire available nearby, Boat storage/parking available onsite.

Boats can be parked offroad right next to the property. The nearest boatramp is 5 minutes drive, on to Black Head Beach. There are also boatramps on to the Manning River and to Wallis Lake within 30 minutes drive. Boats are availble to hire at Forster (30 minutes drive), and deep sea fishing trips can be arranged from Forster. Beach and rock fishing within 5 minutes walk of the property.

We welcome all guests and celebrate diversity. Many gay and lesbian guests have stayed and provided positive feedback.

Golf

There are 4 golf courses within 30 minutes drive: Forster, Tuncurry, Taree and Tallwoods. Tallwoods is 5 minutes drive from the property.

Pet friendly

Small dogs (less than 11 kg) are permitted, Medium dogs (11 kg to less than 34 kg) are permitted, Large dogs (34 kg or heavier) are permitted, Pets are permitted inside, Secure, fully fenced running area, Other domesticated animals reside at the property.

We can accommodate up to 2 dogs at one time. Well behaved and house trained dogs are allowed inside. There is a fenced yard, shared between the two units. The two local beaches within walking distance are dog friendly, on leash 8am to 7pm. We ask that dogs are not left unattended in the units or the yard, as they may bark and annoy neighbours. Owners are of coure responsible for the control of their dogs at all times.

Whale Watching

Humpback whales can often be watched from the nearby beach (150 metres) and headlands (5 minutes drive) during their annual migrations north May-July, and south September-November. Whale watching tours are available from Forster (30 minutes) - please see www.greatlakes.org.au for current info.

Windsurfing/Kitesailing

Black Head Beach (150 metres) provides a good windsurfing and kitesailing location when wind and surf conditions are suitable.
