Accreditation and awards for 'Lagoon Pocket B&B':
2009 State Winner (QUEENSLAND) TakeABreak Hosted Accomodation

Bed & Breakfast, Horse Riding Tours

We are a rural property so there is a chance to feed the chooks, get up close and personal with one of our friendly cows or just wander around the bush garden and enjoy the bird song. Wallabies and Scrub Turkeys are regular visitors together with a huge variety of birds from honey eaters to Cockatoos, Kookaburras to Pale Headed Rosellas.

We are a pet friendly B&B, well behaved dogs are welcome in your room (not on the furniture though!)and all around the property. We just ask that you keep them on a lead near our cattle.

Our B&B rooms are separate to the main house, each has a private entrance and verandah. All are extra large with generous ensuites, (one with full disabled facilities), air conditioning, TV and tea and coffee making facilities.

Explore the countryside whilst you are here with the Mary Valley Rattler Steam Train, walk in the Amamoor State Forest and maybe have a dip in the crystal clear waterhole. There are wineries to visit, the yummy Kenliworth Cheese factory is a pleasant drive and of course 10 minutes away is Gympie "the town that saved Queensland". If you prefer a bit more activity we can arrange horse riding, gliding, golf, canoeing, fishing to name a few of our favourites.

Or just relax and do your own thing - it's up to you.

Whatever you decide we will do our very best to make your time here special.

Locality

Just 40 minutes from the hussle and bussle of Noosa and within easy reach of Tin Can Bay and Rainbow Beach the Mary Valley is a fantastic location to combine the best of the bush and the beach.

The State Forests offer a great back drop and playground for bush walking, swimming and horse riding. The Mary Valley Rattler Steam Train runs past the end of the property and will show you the entire valley from a different perspective.

And Gympie with all its historical delights is only 10 minutes away.

Property

A little history......
The property's history goes back to 1882 when Lagoon Pocket School was first opened on this site. The school was operational until the 1970s.(you will find some great old school photos in your room). The teachers house is still the main house on the property. The old school building was moved into Gympie and the brand new B&B rooms now stand on that site. James and Suzannah Arkle arrived from the UK in November 2003 and opened the B&B in July 2004 incorporating the best of the old with the convenience and luxury of the new era.

“What do you mean by pet friendly?” is our most frequently asked question as there are so many variations of the term. Ours is quite simply that well behaved, house trained pets are allowed in the rooms, but not on the furniture. The fencing around the B&B is designed with cattle in mind, not dogs, so we recommend you keep them on a lead outside as they will probably be keen to explore all the sights and sounds of the country!

You are welcome to walk your dog around the property, just check with us where we have our cows grazing, and if we have any escape-artist chickens on the loose! The rule of the property is, if a gate is closed it is closed for a reason, so please close gates after you.

Around the main house is dog-fenced so we always suggest to guests that they bring their dog over for breakfast or evening meals with them so they can have a play round the garden and exhaust themselves whilst you enjoy your meal. This is especially handy if you are setting off in the car after breakfast and want a well worn out pooch to kip quietly in the back.

Bedding and food aren’t provided so please bring your own. If it is wet we have a selection of old towels on hand to get 4-legs dry!

Dogs are our main market, but we have also had a few feathered guests (in cages please) and a turtle - we've been told that they all thoroughly enjoyed their stay at Lagoon Pocket B&B.
