Cottage, Holiday house, Farm stays

The cottage is situated on 8 acres of bush land with creek frontage.

If your preferred dates are not available make sure you look at our other holiday house "The Grove".

If you love peace, tranquillity and wildlife then this is the place for you. Abundant bird life and when walking along the banks of the Gunny Creek, you may spot a Wallaby or two. Paddock can also be used for motorbike riding for the kids.

The Gunbower Creek is a great spot for fishing and in summer it is a popular place for swimming and water skiing.
Murray cod, yellow belly and carp are often caught in the creek. Boats can be launched at the nearby boat ramp, which is just a five minute walk from the cottage. It is currently difficult to fish from the bank of the creek due to the large amount of water lilies growing in the shallow water. But we have installed a fishing jetty nearby to make it easier for visitors without a boat, to fish.

Row boat, canoe and kayak are available for tenants' use at no extra charge. Kids life jackets are supplied. Push bikes are also supplied.
We have good range of DVDs. Also a Wii console with a choice of 50 games available. Many hours of fun for kids. Let us know if you would like to have the Wii, so we can set it up before you arrive.

The Gunbower Creek is lowered from mid May till mid August. A shallow stream flows in the creek at this time of the year. Therefore the mud banks are exposed and it is difficult to get to the water to fish. Fishing is possible ten minutes from Gunbower in the Murray River. Cray fishing is largely done at the river this time of the year. Please contact us if you require further information.

In Gunbower there is a , Takeaway Shop,that also provides all basic requirements, McGillivrays' Butcher Shop , and The Gunny Pub which provides excellent meals .

Locality

Cottage is comes with 8 acres by the Gunbower Creek at Gunbower, Victoria, 40 kilometres west of Echuca.
From Echuca travel towards Kerang along the Murray Valley Highway. Just before entering Gunbower, turn right into Fox Island Road, then right into Richards Road. Cottage entrance is 2.1 km on right.

Property

The Ridge is situated on our cattle farm property of approximately 200 acres. We also have another holiday house on the farm (The Grove is also listed on this website) which is about 300 metres further up Richards Road.

Pet friendly

Small dogs (less than 11 kg) are permitted, Medium dogs (11 kg to less than 34 kg) are permitted, Large dogs (34 kg or heavier) are permitted, Secure, fully fenced running area, Food and water bowls provided, Other domesticated animals reside at the property.

We have a secure running area for dogs at the side and back of the house. Fence is "Stocksafe-T for Feral Control" Which is normally used as a barrier to keep kangaroos, pigs and wild dogs out of properties. 5 feet high (150cm). Spacing in fence are small enough to keep small dogs in running area. In the dog area there is plenty of shade and a small shed.

We have a large number of guests that bring their dog/s to The Ridge. And to date we have had no problems with pets. The dogs love roaming around the bush paddock and then take a dip in the Gunbower Creek. We have two dogs that stay around our house most of the time. They wont run up to the ridge causing any trouble.
