Perfect stop for Gingin Observatory stargazing nights. Bring your remote control boat for fun on the lake, take a perimeter walk 3.5 kms around the parkland cleared paddocks to see cattle, find the 4 goats or watch the sheep. Comfortable fresh, clean, holiday accommodation in the guest wing of the homestead. Wide verandahs, Huge patio, Cool ceiling fans to all rooms, Ducted air-conditioning, Cosy wood fire, Doonas, Blankets, Dressing gowns and Oil heater to warm your bedrooms. Photograph the dark night skies for stargazing enthusiasts.
Guests from around the world have enjoyed and rated us generously on our hospitality. Dinner bed and breakfast is available upon request.
Take a gentle walk to see the cattle, Dorper and Damara sheep and the variety of plants and trees. Tracks and trails lead around the perimeter of the farm or ride a mountain bike for bush and wilderness experiences on the gravel roads. Use our/your binoculars bird life is plentiful on the lake. Carnaby cockatoos, Sacred Ibis, kookaburras, magpies. You might hear an owl at night, mudlarks, cranes, spoonbills, a black swan or two, wild ducks, mountain ducks, cheeky willy wagtails, rosellas and others at different times of the year. Horse trail riding is near by. Stay one or two days longer and investigate all that Gingin Shire has to offer, honey, wine, olive tasting, jam. Keep the camera handy.

Outstanding hospitality. This is like staying at a five star hotel with the added bonus of really personal attention from the hosts. The rooms and other facilities are immaculate; and visitors'requisites ranging from the usual toiletries to towelling dressing gowns are what you'd expect in a posh establishment. Icing on the cake is the time the hosts invested in sitting & talking to us; showing us the property. For me and my guests, seeing the Galloway cattle respond when called by name was a delight, Gem

Such a convenient stopover, half an hour drive to Gingin or Guilderton to see the mouth of the Moore River and Indian Ocean meet, is the sandbar open? Continue along Indian Ocean Drive to Seabird a small fishing town on the Indian Ocean coast line.Further north is Lancelin or Jurien 163kms, famous for Crayfishing, windsurfing, sand boarding or 4 wheel driving in the sand dunes. If country scenery is more your style start south of Gingin town for Jylland winery book for lunch and take a short drive on to Riseborough winery & art gallery. Come back through Gingin for the lovely park with free bbq facilities and the historic waterwheel, church and cemetery, then for Devonshire tea continue to Westcoast Honey and see the bees and have a honey tasting.

Caladenia mini golf and cafe, gardens are all waiting for your visit. New Norcia and Bindoon are also neighbours or you may stop over on your way further north to the Pinnacles.126 kms. Geraldton 360kms from Sandy Lake Farm B and B. Like to go horseriding their are trail ride facilities nearby or book a therapeutic massage and relax for a while. Reiki and flute healing is available at the nearby Universal healing Centre.

Property

Sandy Lake Farm of 170 acres, farm animals, mature pine trees around the perimeter and huge lake. Galloway cattle are heavy coated, black with white belt, Dorper sheep, 4 goats are hiding, ducks, guinea fowl, chooks and Abbey the dog is waiting for a pat, see if you can spot Zena the shy shed cat. Peaceful, serene surroundings with neighboring olive grove and plenty of calm bush land, take your camera and catch the light at different times of day. Or for the more advanced photographers the dark night skies are perfect for stargazing and milky way photo opportunities. Magnificent sunsets filtering throughout the pine trees. Feeling more energetic bring a kite and catch the wind. Look for our Sandy Lake Farm B and B signs and turn off either Indian Ocean Drive or Brand Highway.

Unfortunately the doorway to the b and b section is a little narrow for wheelchairs, prams or walking frames. Also the b and b sits on a rise which is difficult to use due to lawn and the elevation of the land. No pathway is available to the b and b.

The warmth of the winter sun is captured on the front verandah and creates a bank of warmth the rear of the b and b is cooled by verandah all around the house and a large high pitched patio with shade blinds.

The hosts have both been exectives in past lives and can assist with the requirements that executives need to keep in touch, bearing in mind that your mobile phone should be one with a blue tick or rural capabilities for the area. Guilderton boat ramp is a 30 minute drive west of Sandy lake Farm.

Old Junction Hotel and the bridge are all part of the heritage trail / stock route North. You will find these just 15 minute drive from Sandy Lake Farm B and B. Gingin townsite also has a Vic Gordon Trail through the paperbarks and over the brook, and take a look at a few of the historic buildings, railway station and cemetery in Gingin.
