Cottage, Holiday house, Farm stays

Abbeys cottage is a 1950's style cottage with bathroom, 2 WC's and 3 bedrooms to comfortably sleep 6 persons. Large master queen bed room and 2 x twin bed rooms. Lounge: TV/DVD and dining table for 6, kitchen: large fridge, microwave, gas stove, all crockery, cutlery and glasses. Outdoor area is under cover: with outdoor setting, front patio under cover for a fabulous gum tree view out to the paddocks and farm animals perfect for a quiet read. Acres of garden to enjoy why not sit and rest a while. Consider a Voucher for birthdays or gift for friend or loved one, include a stargazing night at the Observatory and a meal out just pack a bag and go. Book your farm stay getaway today. Ideal for photography enthusiasts or astro photography. Horseriding and honey farm both nearby.

Locality

22km west of Gingin, 25km east of Guilderton and Moore River and the Indian Ocean. 15km from Brand Highway and about the same from Indian Ocean Drive. Easy to find and handy to travel back to Perth for shopping 1 hour's drive or down to Joondalup 40 minutes drive. Best place to stay for visits to the Gingin Discovery Centre or Stargazing nights at the Observatory but you have wonderful dark starry nights here or moonlight shows that you will enjoy when that big old moon comes up from the pine trees. Horse Riding, wine tasting, historic township, swimming, fishing all within 30 minutes drive, Pinnacles and Cervantes 1 and a half hour drive for an easy day our.

Property

170 acres of cleared parkland with mature gums, pines, tea trees and blackbutt trees. Lake has islands and is easy to walk around. Recent guest trained every day by running in the paddocks for a couple of hours per day yes he was very enthusiastic and on an even keel while training for an international yachting event. Farm perimeter is easy walking 3.5kms to see all the farm animals and take an easy stroll past the neighboring 23000 olive trees. This is a quiet restful garden oasis down a 3.4 km gravel road. Bring binoculars, camera for great night stargazing or farm photos in the best light, warm clothing winter can be minus, change of comfortable soft soled shoes in house please. Need more there is also Sandy Lake Farm B and B for more guests enquire/book today.

Carnaby cockies come in the morning from April for several months for a feed on the pine trees. Pink and Grey galahs are nesting each year in a hollow in a tree near the main house. Wild geese and mountain ducks, an occasional black swan and partner, white cockies, magpies, willy wagtails, mudlarks, top knot pigeons, and eagle or two may hover over the paddocks, 28's and many more birds can be seen on or around the trees or the lake.

Yanchep National Park is about 25 minutes from our property and Wilbinga Reserve which has no trails but is total bush is just off Indian Ocean Drive about 15 minutes drive. The Gravity Discovery centre have a bushwalk trail which is 11kms or simply take a 3.5km walk around the property which has calm land to the rear and some wildflowers on the property.

Canoeing & Kayaking

Canoe and/or Kayak facilities available nearby, Guests welcome to bring their own canoe/kayak, Secure storage facilities available.

Canoe around our lake (blackwater) or take a drive to Moore River 25kms and in your own kayak take a trip up river, in summer paddle boats, dinghy's are available for hire at Moore river.

Children can collect (under supervision) eggs from the chooks in the morning but please don't let them out, and white muscovy ducks can be let out and penned at night to keep them safe. We do have a large lake, dam and electric fencing that parents need to be aware of children should be supervised at all times please due to gates and fencing required to keep animals where they should be and not in the gardens.

Come out to the paddocks with Reg or Veronica to feed the cattle and sheep (lambs born in April are growing quickly and the twins are reverse identical that's the only way I can describe them one side is black at the front foreleg and each is a different side, just gorgeous)collect eggs from the chooks and let the ducks out on the cool crisp mornings.

Fishing

Plenty of experience fishing by both Veronica and Reg will assist you with where to go and what to catch. Whether you use a fishing rod off the beach or bring your dinghy we can assist with River or ocean advice. Larger boats if your heading North there is plenty of parking here to stay overnight.

Motor Bike Friendly

Travel is via a gravel road for 3.4 kms or an alternate route is more than 11kms. this can be tricky for bike riders on a wet or dusty day. We did just have a garden wedding with members of the Perth HOG motor bike group attending on their Harleys.

We have just had a garden wedding in April 2012 for a guest and this was a wonderful event enjoyed by everyone the property was picture perfect the roses were blooming and the rain held off for the entire event. A full wedding service could be held in the gardens again and food service might be negotiated. Contact us for any questions and we will make every endeavour to assist. Reg can even sing for your wedding if required. He is a very well known entertainer in this area and if your looking for Smooth Music he is totally suitable.

Visit Guilderton and Moore River 25 minutes, Self drive to the Pinnacles (2 hours drive), take a tour at New Norcia (1 hour drive) or picnic in the park in the historic town of Gingin. This is a lovely time to visit the farm cool nights sunny days but not too cold. No thru road and adjoins 23000 olive trees making the farm a quiet restful location but so easy to get back on Indian Ocean Drive or the Brand highway when your ready to travel home or venture to the north of Western Australia. Bed and Breakfast on the Property in another home is also available for 8 guests ideal if you have a group of 14 and caravans can stay if they are self contained.
